Bit bored at work so I thought I would throw up a thread to keep track of everything I'm doing to the old girl.
She started life as a 95 EF Gli, Auto, LPG, Factory Cruise, tow bar, 140,000kms Nice and clean body wise, interior front seats shagged. I could only bear one week or so of living in the Adelaide hills before lounge recliner handling had to go King super-lows all round, Boge turbo short throw shocks, Whiteline front and rear adjustable swaybars, and some Whiteline reshaped upper control arms. New rotors and pads all round made the brakes work a bit better. Found a set of SSA pre-AU wheels on Ebay, tyre place in Melbourne was having a sale 18x8 and 235/40s Delivered to Adelaide for just over $1000 Wheels and suspension made it go round the twisties a whole lot better, looks much nicer too. Driving the auto up and down the hills lasted about as long as the original suspension, so a T5 conversion kit was found, as well as a Mal Wood pin for the pedal box, flywheel machined and new clutch, now we were getting somewhere, Exhaust was next, Pacemake comps, hi flow cat, 2 1/2 mandrel bent cat back, and one straight through muffler, much better sound , has a nice deep burble at idle, quiet under 2,500, so not too bad in traffic, but once it hits 3,000 she screams real nice. Took this oportunity to also remove the LPG system and the rest of the tow bar Recent photos Now to the engine, breathing was a whole lot better with the LPG mixer now not stuck in front of the Throttle body, but it could be better. Old system Parts for the new intake All fitted up, revved alot better and smoother up top Was originally planning on bell mouthing another tube, but different induction plans are now afoot More to come.. |

Looks great. Cant go wrong with a white EF Gli. The shape suits the colour well imo.

hey tidy looking ride! i have a question, where did you get the hoses/pipes from? i am tinkering with my 5lt NF atm putting a 70mm MAF on and was after a bit of hose to join up to the filter box but all the stuff i found at supercheap and the local ricer turbo joint was too small i found a bit of hose from a EF/EL 4.0lt that goes between throttle body and intake tube that seems to be the right size, so i wondered where yours came from?

Just made out of 3" intercooler pipe and silicone joiners from Autobarn. |

Love the car matey. Amazing how a set of wheels and some TLC can make such a huge difference, keep it up.

Hi, nice and clean EF you have there.
I like the wheels. I think they suit it very well. Cheers BenJ

Few more pics and details,
Polished up a spare rocker cover, and ISC valve Starting to look better Dodgy rear quarter rubbers were next, process of sanding with wet & dry 80-600 grits until all the pitting and cracking is gone (if you leave any, it will deteriorate again), then a good wax & grease remover, followed by three good coats of VHT rubber & bumper spray. Before and after The same process can be done to the strip on the top edge of the doors, and the front side window strips. Plans: Interior; Have started collecting parts for the interior, This is how I envision it. I have some fairmont door trims with the wood spears, was looking at them last night, I think i can remake the spears out of alloy, by either machineing out of a solid billet, or shaping sheet over the wood, same with the dash spear. |

Very straight looking EF you have there mate. It's coming along nicely. I like the ideas you have for the interior, does look very nice. Will be interesting to see what you come up with for the door spears.
I must say, that polished rocker cover is most probably the shiniest one i have ever seen. How many hours went into that one? The finish is perfect |

The finish is perfect Thanks, it wasn't all that bad, a few arvos in the shed using a orbital to sand through the grades of wet & dry, then a rough buff with a course stitched mop and cutting compound on the bench grinder, then final buff with a soft mop and polish on the bench grinder. I started a new one last night, cut a section from a donor cover and will TIG weld it all up today, getting rid of all the spark plug lead holder sections and throttle cable holes, will post up pics tonight once done. |

hey man, I really like this progress, simple but bold mods. The interior looks sweet. The only thing that i would personally change is the dash- the fairmont one has oil pressure and battery voltage and look a treat. I have a real nice el one for sale too.

hey man where did you get the piping from?? I just went to supercheap and they wanted close to $200 for the set up. I am thinking (hoping) it must be cheaper somewhere else. lol

yeah silicone joiners and bend cost s**t in stores.
id hit up ebay if you wanted a few, go from the same seller and get combined postage. will save you a fair bit. a 3" bend on ebay is $20... looking good though mate. thanks for the idea of painting the door strips and windows rubbers. i painted my plastic bits (the rear 1/4 window on eb is plastic) last weekend and it makes the rubber bits i didnt paint stand out lol so might have to pick up some of the VHT stuff on the weekend.
