Anyway, onto more important news, my stimulus pay check came today. So I decided that new stands and a new trolley jack was in order & then with dad's help, the mustang was raised up onto stands. One of the new one's is the red one.
next up is to remove the seats (The seats are done up from under the car), put more paint stripper into the engine bay & overhaul the front end and the rear suspension.

Yesterday, I removed the exhaust system & removed the Ultra Mags off the car, so i can start to overhaul the suspension.
All the Rubbers, split pins, bearings, nuts and bolts will be replaced on the front end. Disc brakes will be easy to fit to the front end of this car as i fit a adaptor plate that allows the fitting of disc brakes. Hmm, the breather for the diff has been leaking. For the rear end, the drum brakes will be changed to Disc brakes. I'll either change the ones on this diff to Disc Brakes if it's possible or find a 9" diff that has Disc Brakes on it that is the right track width for the mustang. Also today, i got a package back from Castlemaine. Normally, mustangs has a red lens across the whole light. IE no Yellow indicator Lens. A Mate told me about a bloke in Castlemaine that cuts off a part of the lens, changes the color to yellow and re attaches it to the rest of the lens. I reckon it came up a treat. I did this purely for safety as a flashing red light on the back of the mustang is quite hard to see compared to a flashing yellow light, which nearly every car here has. A divider has also been fitted into the lens.

Today, i pulled out the front seats from under the car (They bolt up from under the car). I also had a look under the carpet expecting to see rust or paint peeling. I'm happy to say that neither came up . But i did find a American penny (1993) and a American Quarter (1972) under the carpet.

ashcook wrote: Thats tidy, you have to be happy with that! Thanks Ash, Yes i am happy with it. Another interesting thing i found 5 minutes ago when i pulled out the back seats. No rust here but what's that under the back rests?? Hey, it's the original owner's manual and the warranty booklet for this mustang!. Nothing like a bit of history on the car that is being done up. I've locked these away so i don't loose them.

the back seats are now out. I've also started to remove the door trims & the rear quarter trims. Also done today is the disassembling of the front end. once i work out how the back window winders come out (there is a hole on the side of the winder, but with no screw head as far as i can see), i'll be able to start to fix the RH back window. It has come off the mechanism.

Allright everyone, here is part 1 of changing the rear drums to discs on a mustang.
Here is the drum brake. first thing, remove the drum. using the hole on the axle, undo the four bolts holding the axle in. Now turn the drum around and put it back on with a couple of nuts only done up a little way. using the drum as a slide hammer, the axle will come out of the diff Don't forget to undo the brake hose into the back of the drum brakes then remove the park brake cable and the drums and there you have it. the drums are out! coming up, puttint on disc brakes.

The suspension will be kept as is but with new suspension parts as it is cheaper to buy new control arms and saddles than to get them rebushed.

Got the LTD started today. It drives quite well on gas as well as petrol.
the front window is broken, there is a bit of fire damage to the drivers door, drivers front door lining and to the headlining, but otherwise the car is in quite good condition.
