Finished! (well almost)
going to weigh and register it tomorrow, still gotta get one sheet of 2mm for the bottom of the spare wheel tub an then thats it, will keep for a month or two for testing and then up on ebay it goes You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

do the doors still have the lock actuators?
hook up an after market alarm/central locking or smart lock.

even run an extra wire through your trailer plug from the vehicles central locking, so when you lock the car this locks too

central locking actuators have been removed, but theres nothing to stop them from being refitted.
Rules regaurding trailers are slightly different in VIC, its still classed as a light trailer so it doesnt need brakes and no yearly inspections down here anyway. i got it weighed today 540KG  which means its only "allowed" to carry 210KG which still means it can be used as a camper or for carting around light s**t

If you put brakes on it, it should be allowed to carry more (at least in QLD), suppose it depends on body/chassis strength.
In QLD if trailer weights (loaded) less than 750kg, no brakes, if over 750kg (up to 3500kg IIRC) then it needs brakes.

probably not at all. i made it half an hour across town with only my rego written on the back of it (not reg'd yet) without getting pulled over.
the thing is at 540KG you can only just feel it push the car a bit under brakes, at a guess i could load it up to about 800KG before things got scary. strength shouldnt be a problem, i went a bit nutso welding it all together so with brakes it could easily carry 500KG or more (springs would need to be stiffer though)

stick in one ton springs and an overider brake cylinder and you are all set with trailer brakes.
I have a body that's perfect in the rear half for your next project. I need it gone soon to make room in the garage. It's a nice colour too, burgandy. AS soon as I finish the engine, trans, electric windows etc removal, It will be ready for collection. about a month if you like.

i dunno if tonner springs would help either, car springs seem to be linear (eg they get stiffer as the suspension compresses) whereas trailer ones stay the same stiffness - i have a spare set of wagon springs that i may pull apart to re do these ones.
Id definitly be interested in your wagon body when your finished with it (im SOOOO gonna need a bigger shed soon, i have two cortina's here as well  ) PM me when you want it off your hands!

I have 1 ton springs on my wagon and they halp a great deal.
Did you strip down the diff housing to save weight? If you didn't want the brakes you could replace the diff with a lightweight beam axel. Simply remove the diff centre, cut down the axels? This may not work as the wheels won't be supported properly? I think a simple beam axel would be good. The brake master over-rider hitch is about $100 from supercheap. I have this set up on my tandem and it worked well. I expect you removed the fuel tank, this would have a fair weight saving too.
