Just stumbled across some pics of the car in travel spec, from July 2010 when we took a family trip from home (Mildura) across to Adelaide down the coast along the GOR to Geelong and then on to Melbourne, then back home.

What a pain in the a** its being with getting the engine transferred to this car, first off I was told (by Vicroads) I had to go and write up a stat dec to say that I purchased a complete car and then transferred the engine into my car, so I get that done and take the car back to get it signed off, only to be told I have to take the car to someone to have it checked, a letter written to confirm that I have fitted all the V8 components required, they suggested I take it to Ford, so I go to the local Ford dealership here, who tells me bluntly that they would not put their name to any letter like it, so I think to myself, i'll take it around to the guy that tuned my XR6 and see if he will do it for me, he agreed, so now I just need to have a letter drawn up, hopefully  this will be enough to get this all finalized.

After getting the A/C re-gassed last week I pick the car up and the Mechanic tells me the blend door motor doesn't seem to be working, after a bit of stuffing about the bloody high pressure hose in the engine bay decides to let go, just to add to this after looking into it further the blend door motor it's self seems to be faulty, wouldn't have thought so, as it was working ok when I parked it about 18 months ago, so now it looks like i'll be pulling the dash out of the dam thing now..

Bugger! Sounds like a bit of work to do but once it's all done she'll be the perfect E series wagon...Then Sarah will want you to get stuck into her wagon

All good Paul, I had to remove the heater box in Sarah's wagon to change the evaporator, so while I had it out I pulled the blend door motor apart and checked it out. not much goes wrong with them other than the electrical contacts inside getting dirty and not contacting properly, so just bent the sprung bits down so that it had a stronger contact.

After my last post I decided to get stuck into it, I recently picked up some ED Ghia seats for it that I had been chasing for a while now and thought I would wit them while I was working on the dash so I removed the front seats and console, this made lots of room in the front to remove the dash, I didn't really want to pull the heater box out of the car to change the blend door motor so I thought i'd have a go at removing it with the heater box in place, I had an old Philips head screw driver that I bent the end on years ago to do another job, that was ideal for what I wanted to here, I was able to get the screw drive into the heads of the screws and crack them, then I just used a pair of pointy nose pliers to slowly unscrew them. then used a flat screw driver underneath the unit to lift it over the bracket, and then used the same procedure, but in reverse to put the new one back in. worked out quite well only took about an hour to swap them over, I have always been going to install smartlock in the car so while I have the dash out i'll be changing the loom over, just doing it so i'll have the key less entry :P

enough of my waffle here's the pic's...

Great work man. Those pics of the dash removed are all too familiar to me. Something I have to do again real soon, to do my evap & heater cores.

Remote locking is very cool. Which seats are you putting in, full leather or the leather & velour combo?

Cheers
