Hi All,

Been meaning to make a build thread for a while and never got around to doing it but my current BBM conversion has got me all motivated haha and I don't have much to do at the moment so here I am

Pretty dirty at the moment plus a few cosmetic breaks.


These are the mods I've done so far.

Interior:

- Custom Cluster backing
- LED(SMD) Cluster light conversion (Blue for dials and white for surrounds)
- LED(SMD) Interior light conversion including CCU and Clock backlight.
- MOMO Race steering wheel Typhoon (lol)


Exterior:

- Clear front indicators
- Clear Side Indicators (AU ones)
- Azzura Clear EA style tail lights
- Clear with silver backing boot garnish (I recently snapped about a quarter of the clear cover off going a little too fast over a raised train track crossing)

Everything else:

- Manual Conversion
- Electric thermo fan conversion with custom relay setup
- Extractors + 2.5" exhaust system with 4" tip
- HID headlight conversion
- LED(SMD) park/fog/indicator/reverse lamp/stop tail light bulb conversion
- Custom keyless entry/central locking kit wired to factory loom
- Rear view mirror with built in reversing camera display (haven't wired the camera and stuff up yet, just mounted the mirror to see what it's like in daily driving)
- FG xr6 rims
- -1 coil cut springs

Future Mods:
- Engine Swap
- Dash conversion
- Second battery in the boot for Audio load
- 120amp alternator upgrade (If I get it done before the engine swap)
- All electrical mods to use existing factory wiring loom (if provided)
- Loom extermination - remove all excess looms/wiring, leave only the essentials.

Quick Question for anyone that's interested (thought I'd post it while I'm searching for the answer anyway)

I have an XH xr6 Longreach EECV Manual ECU which I'm going to install to run the BBM.
(I've had it installed previously when I was running the standard log manifold but it ran really rough which is no surprise)

What I would also like to do is run wires to my thermo fan relays from the ECU and seeing how the XH has electric thermo fans stock the ECU should run it just fine right?

My relays have 3 triggers:
- A/C on which I picked up from the compressor clutch wire.
- Half speed engine fan
- Full speed engine fan

Can I run all these triggers back to the XH ecu?
I would like to reloom my entire engine bay and get my thermo fan setup looking as stock as possible

Will I run into temp sensing issues?
I'm under the impression that my EBII doesn't have the electric temp sensor that the XH, EF/EL's do have and even if I connect the relays to my ECU it will do nothing because it doesn't know the engine's hot.

Another thing is I have the XH wreck at my disposal (It's a mates so I'm allowed to take what he doesn't want) and I was thinking of removing the entire thermo fan wiring and XH relay setup and putting it into my EB, will that work?

So, got the manifold in Friday night but have run into a couple of snags.

Here's a few pics of the manifold in plus the custom throttle cable bracket so I can keep my existing rocker cover.





Unfortunately after I had installed the BBM and connected all the wires to my XH ECU the engine would only turn over periodically (maybe once every ~10-15 attempts) and when it did turn over it would idle for few seconds then slowly die until it stalls (would a vacuum leak present this kind of issue?).
I think I've isolated it to the XH ECU because when the stock EB ECU is reconnected the car turns over and revs but of course you need to operate the butterfly on the manifold manually and as a result of that it won't idle.

This is highly frustrating because after the manual conversion I installed the XH ecu (because it's a manual ecu) to see the difference between the auto ecu and manual ecu with the conversion.
Although the XH ECU didn't run efficiently I was still able to drive for a week with it installed before putting the stock ECU back in and now I get nada

I have come to the conclusion that my XH xr6 Longreach ECU is either:

1) Faulty
2) Having compatibility issues with the EB series two Smartlock and BCM, swapping these for the XH ones may solve my issue.
- For anyone wondering the XH Smartlock and BCM module are located behind the fuse box and not above and behind the park break like in other E series.
3) Using the XH ECU is a lost cause and I'm better off biting the bullet and getting a EL one.
- I would have had an EL ecu by now if one wreckers didn't hang up on me when I couldn't give them a catch code and the other wouldn't sell me an ECU because he was adamant that it wouldn't work
