Pedal box ain't in yet but so I don't know about transformed yet, but, I have another problem...it's got an idle vibration. Likely due to the flywheel and clutch being balanced to suit another engine. Greg is trying to find out now whether they touched the counterweight which, if they did it properly, shouldn't have been.

Minus auto...

Image

On with manual trans sandwich plate. This one has the starter closer to the crank due to the smaller 157T flywheel as opposed to the 164T flexplate for the auto which, of course has the starter further away...

Image

Flywheel fixed...

Image

Bolts supplied were for a flexplate(short) but luckily, it seems they fitted flywheel(long) bolts to this car(maybe the same on all 5.0's?) so I just reused them. I used a liquid sealer on the bolts.

Image

Clutch on...

Image

Bell and fork and starter on...

Image

Cable on. Btw I tapped the hole for the fork cover to 1/4 UNC and bolted it on..

Image

Casting number of bell for those that need to know...

Image

gearbox in...

Image

Image

Shifter lining up with boot...

Image

Little adapter harness i made to connect reverse switch and short the inhibit switch wiring...

Image

Manual vs auto...

Image

The hole where it goes...

Image

sound deadening back in place...

Image

Auto vs Manual...

Image

The biggest job was the pedal box. Just getting it out was slightly annoying, ended up half undoing the dash and using one of these ratchet ringies to get at the top bolts which are of course right behind that plastic ducting!?!...

Nice work Pete. When joe did mine, we used the pedal pin kit, was apparently a lot easier than removing the dash to do the pedal box.

Should be nice and lively now. How did you get on with your ute. Did the old bugger end up paying.

Brett

Flywheel bolts are about 25mm long.
Yeah i reckon just about anything would have been easier than putting that pedal box in!
It's fun to drive now too. Some 3.7's would be just the shot and an LSD of course.
Yep the guy paid for the ute fix. Still waiting for a wheel for it. 18x9.5 Driftek are hard to get in silver apparently.

Nice update, thanks for posting the bell housing part number, that will probably help a few ppl out. The old 5.0efi isn't too big of a slouch with a 5spd behind it, and I can tell you they are also fun with a LSD up the bum (like my Xr8's have). I can't wait to get mine on the road.

Cheers

Np dude. I guess that is an excuse for a hydraulic setup? There's nothing down under in kit form that I know of, but in the USA they were using hydraulics in the T5 in the mustangs a while ago, and kits can be bought, that could probably be adapted to our local car's.

I looked into using some hilux bits to do a conversion, but I just don't have the time to have a play with such a project atm.

Cheers

I don't think a hydraulic system will necessarily reduce effort. I've seen a BA setup adapted to an e-series...not difficult but, I need to be convinced it's actually better.

Thanks Ash,
The clutch is not actually heavy. She just has to harden the f**k up. I mean of course it's going to be heavier than a f**k mazda3 clutch!?
