No sympathy sorry. Insurance can be organised in 5 minutes over the phone. You drove without insurance so yes you are a d***head.

waiting for good weather to be painted, have been doing some minor things in the engine bay like getting nuts and bolts on the wire wheel and cleaning them up. hopefully some more updates on it very soon.

Looking better already. XG grills are much nicer than XF ones :P

Post up some pictures of your new wheel and stuff.

Have you whacked the other alternator in yet? Your current one probably just has some oldish brushes in it?

Far out, been a busy man haven't you? lol. Hope the weather clears up long enough to get the ED painted.

In regards to the alternator, is it a bosch one? If so, a new reg with carbon brushes isn't hard to sort out or expensive.

Cheers

quick update: been working abit lately and weather hasnt been to good, i have thursday, friday, saturday and sunday off the weather says it will be sunny it will be abit cool tho ranging from 15-17 but im thinking of hiring the compressor (hopefully its available) and pick it up wednesday after work and get the car painted. then by the time ive finished the round at work the paint will be cured and be ready to wet rubbed and buff. i am also at some stage going to a wreckers to have another look at an XB panel van sitting down the back and if its in fairly good nick i may make an offer on it. also on the to do list is to get some proper lowerd springs for the XF as its far to bouncy also a new exhaust after it got snagged/torn off on my mates driveway so it now sounds like a truck

I'm hoping the weather will be good for you dude. I too need some good weather here to get a few more things done.

Good luck!

Weather in Sydney has been rain rain rain too. Interested to get more details on the rubbing back part. Are you still going to clear coat it? I see this done a lot on overhauling...

i probably havent done it the proper way but i went all over the car with 80 gritt on a orbital sander and stripped it back a fairway then over it again with 320 to smooth it out. i will be wet rubbing the primer with 1500 before paint. yea i will be putting clear on then wet rub it with 1500? ive been told that then give it a buff. so there should be pics up soon ive been told it wont be very glossy off the gun being acrylic but will come up great once its buffed.

ok ive calmed down now  i went for a drive down to spectrum car paints and started talking to one of the blokes down there and he showed me some spray guns he had 2 there in my price range one being $120 the other $220 i said i wanted something better then my current mech pro ones he showed me the $120 kit it has a 1.8 tip and another larger tip also a stand and some other bits he said it would s**t all over the mech pro and there wouldnt be a difference in the finish between that one and the $220 wich was just the gun no other bits with it so i grabbed the $120 kit he said if its crap ill give you your money back.

pic of the car no its not all coverd i want to take those spray guns back to repco and jam them down someones throat :P

and the new gun

so all i have to do is spray some thinners through it in the morning before i use it as the manufacturers put oil on the tip to stop it rusting. even tho its not looking good it is nice to see some colour on the ed so tomorrow should be a better day.
