Progress is good Rickbean.... Buying stuff is good too, in the sense it allows more progress.

I saw an amazing thing at the side of the road in Stokes Valley today... There was this Ford Lazer wagon with no wheels sitting there on Friday... Today it was on it's side and two big as Maori boys were lifting the engine and gearbox out the side that used to be the bottom and onto a wheelbarrow! Couldn't help but think of you but!

This wasn't the amazing thing I saw. This sort of thing is to be expected in the poorer parts of Wellington (or Auckland, or even Melbourne I guess...)

The amazing thing was that as I came around the corner I saw an unmarked Police van that was sitting just far enough away from the bro's ripping this poor car apart not to be seen.

That isn't amazing either. Nor is it amazing that as I passed the bro's they both looked at me and winked...

What is amazing is that the Police thought they were inconspicuously going about their surveillance.

Progress has been slow as usual. As in none at all.

There is so little room in the garage I can't get a door open to work in the car.

Next week I will be getting busy with it!

This week it's all Pergola construction.

The pergola is growing.
I will take some pictures today to show progress.

I am so p****d off. last night there was a 3rd row seat for the Terry on ebay and I missed the auction. it went for only $355 I would have happily paid up to $500. It was sitting at $50 for several days and I didn't set up a snipe. I was so stuffed from heavy timber work that I forgot to check after dinner.

You may be right about that?

I would not be too worried as I am using all factory parts and they are an optional fitment.

I am looking out for a copper hood for the BBQ area. The pergola is coming together very well. I need to get a few more brackets from another Bunnings as I cleaned out the local store's stock. I was lucky my brother was able to help me with the lifting.

Yeah it looks disgusting but would be handy for long trips without the trailer.

We could have gotten a seven seater for the same price. In fact we should have bought the SR special edition which was seven seat, side steps and leather seats for only $37k at the time. It was not AWD and I never found out if it was an option to get one specially from the factory as AWD for $2500 extra?

I got the stuffed classic running properly again :D

Two plugs were fouled which proves that the head is cracked in 2 cylinders. The others were ok. I just swapped out 5 plugs with old ones I had that were in good condition.

The power steering is leaking fluid like crazy though! I thought I had fixed it with a new o-ring.

Progress after 12 months of nothing.......

I have uncovered the car from some of the crap stacked on it and begun to install things. I began with the main loom across the front of the car and relays, fuses. I then installed the headlights. If I get the wiring done I can refit the seats etc. This will clean up a lot of the parts spread all over the garage. :D

So you're putting together a car just to have a new storing place for the parts cluttering the garage?

Darn, that garage space must be important.

Yeah, I'm a knob. You know it. Merry Christmas Rick bean and family...

I stopped in at pick a part yesterday as I was driving past. I am now considering swapping the cracked head from the classic and breathing life back into the old bus. There were lots of EF's there with good heads along with a couple with blown heads. They only wanted $120 for a head so I think I will give it a go. At least it will be easier to sell with a healthier engine. I am also after a tow bar for the FG ute. there were some older model ute's and panelvan's and I wonder if the towbar can be made to fit?
