Doing a bit of a tidy up on my EF Ghia.Mostly all the little nic nacs that make the car stand out a bit more.Including stereo install,custom dials and as said just to make things a little cleaner.
Maybe a gas install later on and XR front.
Anyways heres some pics ill update as i go along.

Not long after i got it,needed an all day clean up job,was filthy.

Added XR style vents.


Painted some engine bits.




Done some custom dials.
Also put in a dvd head unit.Hopefully a flip down roof mounted monitor coming soon.

How are your turning lamps hooked up? Are they just switched so they run like fog lamps?

Not sure if they are hooked up or not yet,they dont seem to be working,its on the to do list.

Don't they were available on EF's.

Looks you don't have any issues with your bonnet head shield drooping onto your engine cover?

My cover is red like yours and its got lovely black bits of melted bonnet lining on it!

Got a bit bored yesterday so took a few more pics.Should actually be doing a bit of work on the car tomorrow.

Added a pod filter today in the factory airbox,havent tested it yet though,hopefully things will go well.

nice looking car mate! how hard was it to install the bonnet vents interested in doing the same thing, and did you get genuine ones?

Nah they`re not genuine vents,they were bought from autobarn for around $25 the pair,they just stick on.They will hold on very well if you clean all contaminants off your bonnet with wax and grease remover first

Looks nice, i can post a wiring diagram for the turning lights if you like, they are pretty easy to wire up. I'd leave the fairmont front if i were you, I know the xr front looks sporty and all, but nothing combines class, and toughness as well as ef/el fairmont fronts

That would be great if you could post up the wiring diagram.
Yea planning on just keepping the fairmont front and putting a chrome grille on.

Is that to wire them as turning lamps or foglights?

This is how to wire them as fog lights/driving lights. Now obviously you could just cheat and run them straight of your parkers so that they are always on when your lights are on. That's fine but it draws more current from your lighting circuit which could lead to blowing fuses etc. So drop down to your nearest electronics store and purchase a 4 pin relay, they are about $6 i think,they will look like a small black box with a heat sink with pins labeled 30, 85, 86, 87. I've posted a diagram to help you wire the relay. It works when power is applied to terminal 86 (fed from light) it closes 86 and terminal 85 (earth) which in turn closes terminals 30 (battery) and 87 (driving lights) creating a circuit and feeding power to your lights directly from your battery instead of your lighting circuit. You can loop the active from terminal 87 to both lights but its good practice to give each light a seperate earth. Now the wire from your headlight to go to 86 it should be pink with a brown stipe, this is your parkers. However i have heard of variations so stick a pin through the insulation and check with a meter, after you have located the wire run it to pin 86, you can (and probably should) chuck a fuse in that line too but it's not necassary. Another good idea is to put a switch into your cicuirt so you can turn your driving lights off and resume driving with your lights functioning normarly. To do this put a switch anywhere in series going into either 85, or 86. If you can be bothered you can go to the wreckers and get a three gang switch (ariel, rear wiper, demister) plate and add the rear wiper switch of an ef/el wagon. Then using your meter simply work out which wires are the switching wires. It gives it a nice factory look, and gives the option of switching them off, however its a lot of rooting around. finally pins 85, and 86 can be swapped if you like, it will still work as normal. Let me know if you need help or if i've just confused the hell out of you, I have more pictures from what I did to my cars. I have done this about 5 times but havent done it for over a year so correct me if im wrong

I believe there is a diagram for turning lamps in the tech docs.

How would i modify it to run off a switch and not feed power from the parkers? So i can just run my foglights without parkers (have them independent)
