I'm currently looking at getting some GT40X heads with 61cc chambers ( 64cc shaved to 61cc ).
Which will give me a comp of 8.94:1. I think it will be a fairly good comp ratio to run with boost?

I want to let the engine run in for 10,000km's before i boost it. Hopefully this project will be running by July/August, I'll be pushing as hard as i can to have it going by then.

I spoke to Leon at A1 Hi- Performance earlier, and he should be sorting out the block for me. Apparently its common for windsor's to fail sonic testing, so we'll see how my block goes!

A S400 fits but a tad tight and i would solid mount it as well. The only problem i see is building a airbox infornt of it.

Yeh i think i'll just focus on getting the engine running first off, worry about boost side of things when the time comes.

I'm looking for competent engine builders in the Perth area which know what there doing and I can trust.

BPT motorsport are an option, i may ring Barry for a quote.

..... I'm still looking for a donor car...

On the list of possible candidates are:

- XE falcon
- EB XR8 or fairmont
- EF/EL 5L or XR8
- XB/XC Coupe

At the moment, the XE is winning..

Or the easy route would be an E-series

Get a xe ghia, 99% of them have power windows, pwr steer, aircon and better looking headlights than a stocker, not a lot special about an esp especially these days, the original bilsteins would be wore out and the other differences are minor cosmetics, nothing you could not do yourself.

I'd go for something older like a XA-C falcon or even a tad older again, over the XD-E falcon's. This sounds like it will be an awsome project!

Cheers

Cheers for the replies all. You've just made me more confused than anything

The quote from A1 was faxed through today:

- Acid Bath $95.00
- Acid Bath all parts $165.00
- Bore and hone $275.00
- Torque plate hone $225.00
- Sonic test block $185.00
- Fit cam bearings $95.00
- Crack test crank $100.00
- Check and polish crank $100.00
- Grind crank and radius oil holes $200.00
- Fit bearings and check clearances $125.00
- Face block and square $200.00
- Fit pistons to rods $100.00
- Re size rods $200
- Wash and prepare block for assembly $250.00

Which comes to a grand total of $2315.00

I will ring BPT Motorsport tomorrow and ask for a quote. Unfortunately as i said before A1 can't assemble bottom-end for me, But i may give it a shot myself. Double-check everything and take my time.

What are your thoughts for pricing? It is fairly steep imo

If they can't assemble the bottom end, what is this charge for?

- Fit bearings and check clearances $125.00

Cam bearings are seperate - so i would be thinking that above is the crank & rod bearings - ie bottom end.

It looks pretty reasonable to me for a v8. I had the bottom end work done on my mighty boy, pistons were fit to rods but rest of assembly was up to me, supply new bearings, pistons & rings to suit 20tho o/s, grind crank, chemically clean & wash the block, deck the block, bore & hone 20thou o/s, supply a gaskit kit & there wasn't much change out of $1000.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

yeh exactly, checking main and conrod bearing clearances.

Have you had any issues with M & D Auto engineering milo? Do they specialize in performance engines?
cheers for the input

They would be checking the main and big end bearing clearances(plastiguage) and probably crank end float and rod side clearance for the 125

How can they check the clearances without assembling it?

Cheers
