That's fair enough man, someone who know's what they are doing are worth paying for. Especially when it comes to an expensive item like an engine rebuild.

Cheers

In sydney for full machining of block and clean and assembled for 3-3.5k from 2 big engine builder names i know off.

Pay the extra money and get A1 to do it as it seems he is the only Ford expert in WA so stick with him and i still also incourgae u to get H beam rods for ur combo as it will cost u max $400.00 extra to go H beam. At least then u can push ur engine fuher and spin it hard and know it will last.

Just take ur time with this project even if gets on the road by the end of the yr as u want to do it once and do it properly or it will cost u double at the end, trust me on that as my mate is on his 3 C4's and now his 2nd engine but now 393 cleveland.

Yeh you do have a point there micky, whats the hp rating of H beams? and a rough estimate of what a shotpeened stock rod can endure. I shall get on the phone this morning and get some quotes.

I was checking over the crank yesterday afternoon, and found a deep score on the last main journal.
It will have to be ground considerably.

That looks like rear main seal to me ??
A speedy sleeve fixes these issues... Or a linish...

Close up pic is rear main, but the slightly further away pic shows the last main - not looking great, but it might only need a linish....

Cheers

He might not be.. But from what i've heard, he is the only one trusted by windsor owners in W.A.
He definately knows what he's talking about and his feedback is testimant to that. He knows his V8's!

Off topic, be we used to machine the groove out, for example, with a parting tool and then spray this steel powder coat stuff onto the journal while spinning it, less heat and more uniform than welding. Regrind to final size.

ah right, but how would it hold in a performance engine, I might end up getting it ground and possibly a larger rear main seal??

I may have found a AU S3 XR8 220KW cam, would this work well in a boosted windsor? I have no idea what the cam is like, so any feedback would be much appreciated. cheers.

Do you have a car to put in this thread yet or is this about the motor?

I can hook u up with the current owner of my old EF XR8 but the only issue is that its located in S.A now and it can also come with a fully built BTR and a mild 302 with under 5000kms on it. The car is not running but dosent need alot to get it going again.
