banarcus, This thread is just about the engine, as i would really like to finish the engine, and then hunt for a donor car.

Its an offer I'll have to turn down micky, with transport ( 1000 - 1200 ), the price will be $4200 +

I've seen some EL XR8 S2 falcon's over here for $5 - $6k. I would rather put it in a EB XR8, as for some reason i just keep going back to them. cheers for the offer anyway mate.

ah right, but how would it hold in a performance engine, I might end up getting it ground and possibly a larger rear main seal??

Just food for thought,
with the increased deck height of the 351 over the 302, ..... you think the turbos will still be in the engine bay ?? or out of the bonnet

I won't be staying with the manifolds I've got, i will need custom ones made, I'm going to modify my current ones, so the exhaust mob can copy them out of mild steel.

I can't wait to see what the manifolds look like to get the turbo's under the bonnet.

Hardware in the pics looks rather sexy!

Cheers

I'm currently looking into piston rings, as this bottom-end will be taking quite alot of abuse, i want some good rings. I've hear "Perfect Circle" are pretty good? what would many of you recommend?

cheers,
Tom

Hey fella's, quick update..

I'm looking at stroking the 351, as I need to buy conrods anyway, i might as well buy a crank while im at it. I'm tossing up between 393 and 408, which would be better?

Build is going slow as funds become available.. but hopefully one day soon it will be running.

Which one requires the block to be bored oversize? Is it the 408? Or do they both require the block to go oversize to get the capacity, along with increased stroke?

I'd choose the engine combo with less oversized bores required. Less chance of splitting a bore then, if your going to abuse the bottom end. Which i might add, there is nothing wrong with abusing it if it's built to take it! ;)

Cheers

The 393 is a 3.875 Stroke on Stock bore. The 408 is 30thou over.

I've got some Probe forged pistons that are 0.030" over. So perhaps I'll go with the 408! Drool!
I might give summit a ring tonight and see if they can rustle something up for me.
I was going to go with SCAT rods and crank..

cheers for the feedback..

Hey just a thought...... this combo would go off on an old Cortina, Traction may be an issue though. Keep posting throughout this build man this thing is gunna go off in wat ever its in. You will be able to put you head out the window of what ever doner you get, dump the foot and hey presto... instant facelift

Well then, if you have the piston's already, and it's "only" 30thou over (which isn't huge), there isn't any reason to not go the 408 (as long as the bore walls in the block are nice and thick after going + 0.030). So i guess it's settled then.

Cheers

It might turn out being a single turbo 408W mmmmm...
It will be going into a falcon, as the conversion will be easier and getting it permitted shouldn't be to difficult if I say it's a stock 302
