I think that you should do absolutely nothing to it.
If I had such a car, I wouldn't even drive the thing. I would hold onto it for 10 years (or so) and then start entering it into car shows as a concourse car. Actually, you would probably be able to start doing that now, as the car is already over 10 years old. At the impromptu car show over the weekend in liverpool, there was a base model XE, absolutely immaculate. 15,000 genuine kms. I thought that overall, the car was awesome. The only thing that ruined it was that he fitted EA turbo blades on it.

I reckon what ever you do; keep it a) mild, and b) reversible.
But in saying that; I like the idea of moth-balling it, however for me the temptation to drive the thing would be too great and I couldn't *not* do anything with it.

The X-series Falcons are starting to get some pretty damn good pricing for their age. I would say keep it in original mint condition if you can afford to do so. If as told by the media that the Falcon will be replaced with another platform, this car would be worth a bit of penny once all the other E-series cars have been abused and trashed. Hell EF/ELs are still going for a good price considering their age.

i doubt it
you see 1992 V8 Lexus' being sold for peanuts......... and these cars were 10 classes ahead of an EB i only see these cars going down in price from the scrap prices theyre already being sold for. The old school cars are holding there prices because theyre the last of an era that will never happen again |

i was going to go out and buy a 97 EL Fairmont Ghia for $4200 with RWC and 8 months reg. had 249thou on the clock with the tickford motor.. but as soon as i seen the fairmont i have now a 94 EF which did have 223,000kms. rwc and 12 months reg. for 3500. i was expecting more to pay around 3800-5000. but they are worth there money these old E series. smooth and simple. few simple mods like 17-18" mags and 2.5" exhaust system. and they look a treat
well done on the deal with this EL mate. its insanely clean and still a baby really. good stuff. and keep it clean. it will more than pay you back in times to come. cheers.

Original. Keep it 100% original in your parents garage.
Honestly - You know how many people threw away Clevelands and 9" diffs in the 80's?! Come on, there may a million of them at wreckers for $50 scrap value, but that just means there's going to be no clean ones left sooner than later. |
