Good news!
Engine runs, trans works great, power steering works (super light now), temp sits just below L, oil pressure sits at 2/3. The problem was that the dizzy had come loose and moved. I moved it as far back as it would let me and managed to get it to idle somewhat ok, on my first and only test drive it had not much power at all and didn't want to rev any more than 3k. I need to get the timing gun out and see where its at. |

Alright, while idling, the timing mark sits bang on the bit on the timing case, and this is when the dizzy is rotated as far as it can go anti clockwise. If I move the dizzy forward at all, the engine begins to deepen in sound and then eventually stall.. not sure what I can do..

I set initial static timing by aligning the crank at TDC and the rotor button pointing at 'finish'.
Then when the car is running, get it to diagnostic mode and use a timing light to check it properly. If there is not enough room to adjust the dizzy, pull it out and shift it by a tooth to get it in the right spot. As your car is an auto, you will probably need to bump the idle a bit with this cam to get it to idle right before you get the chip tuned.. IIRC Joe from CMS told me to advance the dizzy 4-5 degrees (guesstimate), disconnect the ISC and bump the idle screw up. When you do this, you'll need to check that the TPS voltage is in range. (0.7 +-0.15) |

Quick update,
The car is running but hunting and guzzling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Xv59l3XjYk It's used 1/4 of a tank of petrol in about 80km's, with a 22L/100KM. I still need to check the TPS. I'm getting a new exhaust/fitting 4480's tomorrow, that'll fix the 3 or so exhaust leaks it currently has. |

TPS said 0.8..
I tried to check diagnostic codes, but I swear it's impossible to try and read and write the diagnostic codes from a multimeter (correctly) while trying to hold a paperclip in and connect an alligator clip. sighhhhhh |

To anyone who saw that for sale thread
I think a sparkling burgundy XR6 Ghia is going to be quite mint. |

The looong overdue exhaust is now fitted.
It's made up of: Pacemaker 4480 Headers Magnaflow 2.5" 200cell cat (legal) Manta catback system with one muffler. New Old Leak 1/4 Leak 2/4 lol. I'll get a vid for everyone when I can, it sounds awesome ;D |

I can't really get an idling exhaust vid, because the car can't idle, and my phone just makes it sound like popping anyway, so here's an in car vid, but you can barely hear the sound..
