he mate i was interested in building a t5 like this one had until i read this. Did your old t5 have the stronger cluster case reinforcement plate ? as apparently its a key thing to holding together or did you use standard one
One option is the Astro A-5 cluster-case reinforce-ment plate (right), which replaces the factory stamped-steel version (left). The A-5 plate stabilizes the rear main case from spreading under load and allows the cluster gear to be preloaded. i already have a t56 at home and i was thinking of not getting all the conversion parts and just building a good t5 instead. i aim to have around the 250-300kw as well thanks , Dan |

Sick build mate!! Saw you vid on youtube and clicked the link... Don't know how I havent seen this before!
Damn I wish I bought a Magnum. I got the T56, and I think I paid more for it than you did!! I'm sure the prices have dropped a little now though. Would love to hear this thing WOT on an open road!! Keep up the good work

Car is going good so far, I'v done about 3000km's with no problems. I still need to get the tune finished off when I get the time. I snaped the tail shaft with a 6000rpm clutch dump, so I got a custom made Chrome Molly 3 inch tail shaft made with Mark Williams 1350 series Chrome molly uni's and slip yoke, good for 2000hp. I put some new tyres on the rear Nitto NT05's 275/40/17's, I no longer have traction issues. I upgraded the brakes to DBA slotted rottors, Bendix ultimate pads and braided lines. Thats all the updates for now. Soon I'll be getting the diff rebuilt with billet axels, 3.9s and a Tru Trac. A full respray in a custom blue. My Simmons rims reconditioned and the centres painted gold. cheers Matt Last edited by capare on Thu Aug 16, 2012 11:02 am, edited 1 time in total. |

My Simmons are FR17s 8'' front and 9.5'' on the rear.
Will consider the break pad swap, but for now they are working very well compared to standard. Cheers Matt. |
