Looks awesome Ev!
But yeah cover those speaker spacers lol I know what you mean about the intake/snorkel combo, If I floor mine from about 50-60 in the wet up a slight incline mine breaks traction with 225s on the back It never used to do it! Yours with a manual would do it so much easier! How's the bonnet going

Thanks for the encouragement guys!
With the bonnet, so far I have stripped it back to bare metal and applied the initial coat of primer followed by some guide coat. So far from left to right I have sanded about 4" back. I have big respect for people who work in panel shops. I really have to get back into it. I am missing having washer jets And due to complaints, some from myself, about my MDF woodgrain speaker spacers, I went out and bought some plastic spacers. I also got some speaker carpet as well to cover my amp rack which currently looks like this. I am thinking of ditching the twin 12" subs for a factory style 8". I think I am over the fooly sic system phase. I barely turn it up anymore, so it's pointless carrying around a boot-load of speakers that aren't getting used. Actually, I'm not carrying them around, they're in the garage at the moment lol. |

Ironically, I was going to do the same in regards to my subs tomorrow lol... Will keep one 12" and hide the amp up on the parcel shelf somewhere I'm thinking, hmm..

i used a 8" jbl big mofo in mine and found i got nothing but vibrations from the parcel shelf. i ended up making a slim but long box to attach under the parcel shelf that sealed to the bottom and the sub still in the top which made it sound alot nicer, less rattles and still full use of the boot space

I just fixed the washing machine. It was displaying an error code (yes washing machines have them) and the pump out pump was making some bad noises. Some internet research led me to check out the debris filter on the back. I unscrewed the plug and you know what was causing all the trouble? A mangled $5 bill !

I would of guessed a bunch of missing socks! Bastards always get eaten Lol. We have a bag full of unmatched socks. Fiona's dad went to scrap metal today. I got $20 for my old rad and $2.10 for my old battery. Sweet deal. Were the carpeted kick panels from the Fairmonts EF onwards, or were they in earlier series? I think I want some. |

Today I put the front Ghia seats in. I like very much
I went on a cleaning rampage too, got rid of a lot of human slime. Don't you find that there is a lot more room in your car without the front seats in? It's a bit hard to reach the major controls though... Hey, why don't you pull up a chair? I also changed the front door handles to ED ones as the EB ones were very poor as you can see. Before: And after: The end result: It will probably take another 6 months to get the seat back in the right position. I think that even though they are basically the same as the XR pews, the Ghia ones are even more comfy. I have made some progress with the bonnet. Many hours with the sanding block and another coat of primer have yielded this result: I have seen the future, there is more sandpaper in it... I went up the road for some lunch and the revs flared in 1st and 2nd gear, I thought my clutch was slipping like Bry's. Nope just some mud on the tyres Cheers, Evan. 323 Coolant and Heater Adventures
Today I did some maintenance on Fiona's 323. I thought that I should change the coolant over. About 2 years ago, her car went in for a service and mysteriously had a cracked radiator. It must have distracted them from the thoroughly worn out fan belts. They must have been in a rush and forgot to put coolant in the system unless there is a clear coolant with bits in it... In between that I was investigating as to why the HVAC temperature control would not go all the way to hot. Typically with most Jap cars you have to pull most of it apart to get to what you want to look at... Turned out that someone had put a screw in the heater box, limiting the throw of the blend door lever. It was in that hole near the bottom of the lever guide. Then of course, I lost the linkage that goes between the top and bottom levers and broke the retaining clip... Spent 30 minutes looking for it and then got the s**t and finished changing the coolant. After that I had a new insight and looked behind yet another piece of plastic trim and there it was. The clip was still broken, so I had to make a trip to P&P. Got back, stuck it all back together. I didn't even have any left over screws! Well, except for the one that was causing the problem. Now it has coolant in the radiator and a heater that actually gets hot. Cheers, Evan. |

Have a look at metal above the glove box whilst you're there. My old gold 323 had rusted the whole way through there - to the extent I didn't feel safe driving it - it was that bad.....

I mean like it just came out of the factory. There is no rust that I can see. But, we do need to clean out the, whatyacallit... area under the louvers under the windscreen. Gee, I wouldn't feel safe driving a car if I thought that it was going to break in half either |
