{USERNAME} wrote: Definitely looks neater! When you change bonnets over again paint/replace the wiper cowling, it'd be so much easier without a bonnet on! Yeah, I think I will just replace it with an EF/EL cowl. All the ones at the wreckers were not faded. There is now a bit of EF in my EB. It started with the EF washer bottle, then the gearbox and now those bits I just showed you lol. One thing I saw at the wreckers which I thought was a bit weird. There is an orange XE wagon with centre console, bucket seats and... column auto. There's a few X series utes at Pick and Payless now, actually. Oh, and the fabled Centre Point injection AU. Dedicated LPG. Last edited by evxr6 on Tue Jul 24, 2012 7:48 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

Oooh I'm going to try and get down there tomorrow, will keep my eye out for that XE and AU!

Being able to punch the loud pedal without fear of spitting cogs out the side of the gearbox is great. It might be a bit detrimental to fuel economy, but WHO CARES! .
Am I enjoying the new 'box? You better believe it. I guess I'll stick the amps back in tomorrow. I can't hear it right up the back lol. |

So, today I re-installed the amps. In the process of doing that, I discovered that my 4 channel amp is bridgeable. FULL POWER to the fronts lol! I also wanted to bridge the monoblock. After guessing how to do it, I reconnected the negative to the battery and only succeeded in blowing both fuses on the monoblock. Obviously one of my connections was wrong... After trawling the net for a PDF manual without success, I found the hardcopy in a cupboard somewhere and I had indeed mucked up the sub connection. But that wasn't the worst part.
Compare the pair. The top one is correct: Reversed polarity on the monoblock battery terminals... Doh'! Dead shorts usually blow fuses lol. Disconnected the battery again and fixed the mistake. Here is the result: It is much neater than before, with the carpeting and now there is room in the boot. Also, I am hard pressed to notice any difference between one 12" and two 12". It was a lot of fun building the box anyway. Tomorrow I am going to duck down to Woolworths to hire one of those rug doctor machines to see what clean really looks like. Cheers, Evan. |

That install does look pretty neat!
I'm also curious as to whether two 12" subs with average amp are better than one 12" with same amp but bridged.. When I had the single 12" it seemed more bass heavy but I'll have to muck around with it soon! Might steal a few of your ideas for mine when I get around to it

i found the sound was much the same between a single 12 and 2 12's, but the vibration factor started sooner and alot more with the pair. i also found i didnt need the pair up as loud to get the same feelings/sound

You don't know clean till you steam clean.
Check it out: Coffee anyone? And I got arty as much as possible with a point and shoot camera. The rug doctor makes a good tripod. I'd love a DSLR. Cheers, Evan. |

Nah, I hired it from Woolies. Hopefully tomorrow will be warm enough for the seats to dry. They are soaked.

What is that a cold air intake, brah? No, just replacing the indicator lens. The car is all washed and polished. Vacuumed and windows clean. Even the tyres are shiny. See ya at AFD. -Evan. |

If your stuck, get out the hair dryer, it will speed up the process heaps. I did it when I cleaned my velour seats years ago when I had velour in the Ghia.
Looking good man! Cheers ToranaGuy

Cheers ToranaGuy Amazingly, the seats were pretty much dry on Saturday morning. The hairdryer would have been plan B. All Fords Day 2012 Well, we had some fantastic weather on Sunday. The tent embassy only served to shade us from the brilliant sunshine. I have never participated in a car show and this won't be the last time. With Lukee's and my car parked next to each other, it was fun watching people doing double takes between them and checking the badge on the tails. Lots of laughs later, it was time to go. You can find some photos {DESCRIPTION}. Cheers, Evan. |

Today I had to tighten my gearknob as it had got a bit loose over the week. I also regreased the copper tracks on the back of my steering wheel. Again... The other times I was scared of shorting out the tracks because the grease is conductive (I bought special contact grease). Turns out I was worried about nothing. Steering effort and noise has now been decreased.
After that, I mocked up the Ghia door cards. They are going to look good: But, I'm banning myself from modding until I do the timing belt in Fiona's car. Cheers, Evan. |
