Its nice to have a win.
Its amazing how the simpliest of fixes take the most time to diagnose.

I think that with the EB I would like to replace the rocker cover gasket, redo the bonnet (stuffed up the polishing stage and burnt through the paint) and see if I can adapt an EL alternator to the EB. I also would like to hook up the footwell courtesy lights and put the Fairmont Ghia centre console in with operating courtesy lamp. And if I get really bored, do a complete AU motor and maybe auto conversion. |

If I was gonna do an AU swap I would get a wreck because it would have everything that I need, but would most likely be auto. I suppose a J3 chip would fix that lol. Well, I can cross something off the list. I finally replaced the rocker cover gasket. It's funny how much you put stuff off that doesn't really effect the running of the car. {DESCRIPTION} Pulled the cover off and there is no sludge or other nasty surprises. That's nice for a car with an indicated 236,000km on it. It did look like someone tried to reseal the gasket with RTD sealant. Didn't work out too well lol. {DESCRIPTION} I gave the cover a quick clean up and re-installed with the new gasket. {DESCRIPTION} So much better than the old one, which was like plastic. The kit also came with grommets for the bolt holes, which also had sealant residue on them. {DESCRIPTION} After all the fun and games, I tried to fit the car in the garage. {DESCRIPTION} Missed by thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much: {DESCRIPTION} I've had a think about how I'm gonna do the courtesy lamps. Seems pretty easy. For some reason, I've regained interest a little lol. |

I went on a bit of an eBay spree tonight. I have ordered DBA slotted rotors for the front with new RDA extreme pads for the front and rear. I also got new front wheel bearings of course. I will be replacing the rear rotors with a set I have in the shed. I think I am right in saying that the ABS tone wheel is on the hub not the disc as is the case with the front.
All this because the rear pads need replacing. And the front discs come warped from factory . |

You will love slotted rotors compared to the old ones, definitely a worthy upgrade
Also good choice going with the DBA rotors.

Yeah with shipping, the DBA worked out to be cheaper than the RDA.
I want to do this right, because as far as I am concerned, the brakes are most important thing on the car. |

Yeah DBA seem to be good, there $80 each for rears at Repco getting them from there, might go for some slotted ones too when I do mine for added fun .
Making me own brake caliper tool at tafe tomorrow .

Just got all my brake parts in the mail today. The box the discs come in are massive. I was thinking 'Falcon brakes aren't that big lol!'
The first thing will be to knock the chinese made bearing cones out and install the japanese ones. So, should be breaking in the brakes this weekend. |

Ev paint the centre of the discs (the hub part) before you put them on!
I didn't paint my front ones and they turned rusty after two weeks I recently gave them a quick coat with VHT black caliper paint when swapping the rims over and they turned out mint! Just a suggestion

Just a suggestion DBA already thought of that. They come with the hats and edges painted. |
