I'm glad my car doesn't have a timing belt lol.

Cheers,

Evan.

I hope you changed the water pump while you were there.

On Saturday night I went down to Tom Ugly's point for the Edziephoto-shoot. I think this first one is my favourite:

Ever since I put the EL in the river and subsequently lost the awesome headunit, I have been missing the iPod connectivity. So while at supercheap auto while picking up some brake fluid, I was just casually looking at the stereo stuff and noticed that the top of the range JVC unit was only $138. A quick google later revealed that it was $60 off retail.

Anyway, cut to yesterday. The whole reason I got another JVC was so that I could just plug it in with the existing plug. Well because JVC and Kenwood merged or something, JVC changed the plug.

New on the left and old on the right.

I guess it was sort of a good thing, as it allowed me to get rid of all those scotch locks and get some practice soldering. After I bought another soldering iron because my old one broke...

This new HU has 2x RCA pre outs, so I can have subwoofer control from the deck, which is nice.

I think that it integrates very well as it is black.

Another cool feature is that you can choose from 30 different colours for the button backlights and for the screen. You can even have a different colour scheme for headlights off and headlights on. So you can change your stereo colours to match your 1993 spec dashboard, not the other way round.

It also gives premise to the idea that if you want your system to sound good, you have to start with something good. And this thing sounds damn good.

Cheers,

Evan.

Looks mad Ev!

Did it involve cutting and soldering?

If not shed some light, need some time to kill this weekend :P

Basically piggy backed off the interior lamp connector behind the right hand rear sear bolster. So a bit of soldering involved. Green with yellow stripe is constant 12 volt and black with blue stripe is switched negative. They also come on with the light switch on the dash.

Msg me if you want a hand.

I haven't been driving the Falcon much lately as I have been given a company van. I now drive it about 2-3 times a week. I have been saving a lot of money this way. A tank a fuel lasts 4 weeks not 1 :D .

As a result of slight disuse, there have been no real issues. Only one really, the extractor bolts undoing themselves. Lucky I decided to do the weekly check on both company and personal vehicles!

I reckon the shocks could do with a re-vamp. I have read good things about Koni's. Priced them on eBay at $480 for the fronts for Koni reds. I might take it up to Wholesale suspension when I get back from NZ in September.

Other than that, the new rocker cover gasket seems to have stopped the oil consumption problem.

-Cheers,

Evan.

Ok, in the last couple of days, the Ford has been hard to start when warm. I am thinking coil, dizzy cap. It's getting plenty of fuel. You can smell it and it runs fine otherwise.

Thoughts?

So envious of you having a company vehicle now :x

Does that mean more extensive mods on the falcon now that its a "weekender" ? :P

With it being harder to start I'd say it could be either the dizzy cap or the coil, especially if they're original items...

From memory they aren't too much price wise?
