heaps happened since last time posted....
Recently done both knee's at work. Waiting for results, but it either tendon damage or rhumatoid arthritis(? spelling). Currently walking like ozzy and thanks to a drug filled youth im sounding like him too. Still with bung knee's I had to do the column exchange when the s/wheel bolt ate about 7mm of thread. S/wheel almost ended in my face, bolt ended up thread up behind the drivers seat. Exchange column is 2 teeth out from centre but I need to rest the knee's so it can wait. Brakes really bad, front disk's warped and almost raw pads. I think ive sold my old rims for $200. That will buy new ADB's with front/ rear pads. Sparco rim's offset for post Au, so they dont fit. While the cash was alright I got a set of shark fins for $300 with decent tyres off gumtree. They look great, but going to go 225/50's when the tyres get changed in 12 months. Wheel alignment and balance to be done Thursday. Could not help but put them on. look awesome but vibrated a tiny bit at 110. Tyres seem ok so should be balance. Hope ones not buckled, they have no damage though. Found out about a Leather knob, s/wheel and handbrake in a+ condition for $90 a few weeks ago and could not refuse. Going to do the handbrake when I do the brakes. Feels great and shines with the chrome buttons....... I think im blinging my car........... somebody help me. Found a local bloke who will supply and fit a tickford head thats been through the drill i.e acid bath etc for $670. Bloke owns a wreckers and I found out tday used to be a s**t hot mechanic. One thing I know is when I asked him how much he bought the car I got the parts from, he was honest with a price and then also told me how much he made off the wheels alone. I respect an honest bloke and with the news going to opt for that as long as he warrants the work. I'll drop a new 2 core, water pump ( getting done anyway) and doll up the rocker cover as well if I get the head for that. The car canes now though. Heads slowing it down, but still today after a bloke in a sv6 commywhore ran me off the road twice and I finally dragged him....... well at 80 I hit 160 in a heatbeat, whore was miles back with a sulking driver. Fat f**k C**k, I just wanted to be civil, but when he does s**t like that... It seems from the start she bogs down and then at about 2k rpm she hits power band. I am taking it as normal due to the large inline 6, the fact the heads f**k and the need of a tune... but still canes and heaps cheaper to run. Big mouth, extractors and lukey cat back on she burbles. Over the next 12 months: head first, then bushes and Lovell lows down the track |

Finally once again worked out photobucket, funny how the older you get the harder simple technology gets...... Or maybe I am turning into Ozzy..
Pic's taken on my phone so not the best quality As it sits on stocks Still to do lows ans work out what I want in a tail pipe tip i.e oval or twins, or even chrome 3" Before Rims Leather wheel, knob, partially painted bits ( unfinished) and chrome handles. leather brake handle from the same car the knob and wheel come out of to be installed when I do the brakes overhaul. Have a 2 din fascia to go in when I get the cash up for a 7" monitor to run a gps/rear camera and dvd/cd/mp3. Paint wise inside, all done saturn black with light chrome specks, will be doing the side dash vents and the rear vent on the console. Then I will see if it needs anymore before continueing as I dont want to over do it. Need a decent clear coat though as the one im using is way to thin. Engine bay Paint is " ford light blue". Was originally on extractors but burnt off when I read the can wrong. Painted the whole EECV sign, but it dont show too well on the pic's. The Tickford rocker cover will be " Ford dark blue" when the head gets done. Rocker cover gasket leaking like a b**ch, but no point changing when heads getting done soon. Heat shield for the Extractors painted black, but not glossy enough for me and will need further paint so that will come. Looks nice yet descreat I think |

Got the wheels balanced and alignment done at Active Auto's at Blaxland. Mal the bloke who owns it is an absolute champion. because he knew me from me getting the work van serviced there, he charged me $50 for a 4 wheel balance and full alignment. I dont know how technical he is with serious power mods, mind you he was modifying the induction and installing a dual fuel gas injection setup on a ecotec while I was there so he cant be too bad. Not much room to install the added injectors, looked like a b**ch of a job.
Car feel right now, the rims were all out of balance so the car is now feeling more like a car than a d*ldo. Maybe the Mrs will wanna root me more now the car's not giving her the same pleasure at 110 .... Time will tell Got a bloke buying the factory rims that were originally on the car. They have almost brand new Kumho's on them that were put on buy the people I got the car off, so for $200 for the lot I think its a good deal. Original rims are balanced and very clean, just think due to the construction and design of those rims it doesnt allow any ventilation for the brakes. When I have the $200 cash in my hand Ill get the ADB slotted/drilled rotors and new rear pads for her out of it. The car's heating up a bit more now... Hitting the M or O some times depending on my foot. Since the boss took the work van and the Mont's being used allot more its expected. The Mrs drives slower than Ms Daisy and I like to play so its still not too bad. Once the heads done it will be a huge relief as then it wont worry me as much. Even with the springs and bushes not the best Id still drive her to Perth and back once the heads done. Right now Sydneys a worry. Finding time with 3 kids under 7 to do my own tax while running from doctors appointment to pathology and also finishing up a set of home theater custom speakers ive already been paid $150 for is hard. Will be done by the end of the week for sure |

Got the tickford head installed the other day. She ran a bit hot today and yesterday, but I think that was because of the high temperatures we have had in the mountains today and yesterday, not to mention both times I have driven the car I have been stuck behind trucks doing 40km/h for miles. The highest it got was yesterday when I came home from Penrith, it got to to the lower side of the R, but when I got past the truck ( finally) it came back down to the A. Tappets are a bit noisey, I did change the oil as I was not sure what oil the bloke had installed but I hope thats due to everything inside the tickford head settling down and they are only noisey when the head starts to really heat up. She idles perfect temp wise, just does not like to cruise at low speeds ( 40km and under) on a hot day. I have to get the bloke to do some more work for me so I will get him to look at the head next week if it continues. He did give me a 6 month warranty so thats atleast a comfort.
Getting the same bloke to install new suspension when it arrives. I couldnt figure out why I am getting a shudder when braking above 110km/h, but I think the underside of the upper control arm is hitting the tyres due to f**k shocks and springs. You can push down on the car and it almost touches. Really didnt want to change it until next tax as I am still trying to get the Navara ready for rego, but the Nav will have to wait as I need the Mont running right. Got Munroe GT shocks and low king springs for $635 delivered new and this bloke is going to install them and double check the torque on my front bearings for $300. Its got to be done by the 26th of this month as the RTa f**k up last rego payment and I have to go for a 3rd Pinkslip in 18 months....... |

I purchased King lows and Monroe GT shock's for the Fairmont 2 weeks ago. They were coming from Bayswater Vic........ Arrived last Friday thanks to the courier company. Called the installer the same day they arrived to book her in, and she got done today. He also replaced a brake caliper for me while he was in the area and checked my front bearing settings. The bearings were fine and I kind of knew that I had done them right by feel, but it had been 15 years since Id done bearing by feel so it was better to be safe than sorry.
The suspension on her now looks s**t hot. She still needs a wheel alignment ( booked in for 11am tomorrow), but I could not help but have a little run when she was ready. The thing handles great, smooth and precise. The only floor I can find, and I have to say sorry to Paul because he did warn me with kings is that anything decent on the road like a small lip and it goes right through your a** hole. Something Ill learn to deal with. Heres some shots I took of her now. She has not had a clean for a while sorry and believe it or not it was hailing 15 minutes before I took these shots |

Just got back from active automotive after getting Mal to do a pink slip for me......
I was worried because most of driving life I have been a Victorian, so every pink slip I have the car ready for a Vic road worthy certificate and cross my fingers. I know one Power steering boots almost completely rooted and that would be picked as a required replacement for pink slip, but thankfully Mal understood the car's had a new head, shocks/springs, tyres and brakes done in the last month and a little thing like a crack in the P/S boot was minor..... So she passed! Thank f**k for that. At the moment the car still needs a few things done. Firstly the harmonic's almost completely rooted and the belt has heaps of little cracks in it. I have a new powerbond balancer and crank seal here right now and will be collecting the belt tomorrow. That will be done by the end of the week as I have an appointment with the knee specialist tomorrow and if I dont go it will be 18 months till I can get in again. The balancer/ belt and seal have finally ran the bank dry, so thats it for now. I am tossing up weather the Nulon 15/40 oil is too thin for the head. The donks only done 180 thou k's, but I dont know what the Tickford heads done and she ticks a little when she gets hot, so maybe the viscosity of the oil is making it degrade a little at high temps. Supercrap has Penrite 20/60 for sale for I think $36 right now and might go and grab 5L and change it over. Next will be getting the brand new front rotors machined and a good bleed. I got new Maxxis 225/50/16's put on it all round yesterday with a balance and allignment, but I am still getting brake shudder from the front over 100km/h and can only think the new rotors need a machine. It does say on the guarantee that even though the rotors are new, they might still need a skim ( why buy new if you have to get them machined anyway?) and Ill do that as soon as I have the cash. Then Im going to get the Auto professionally serviced just to be sure it has been done. I dont know the last time it was done as I have only owned her for 18 month ( Ive done about 5000k's on he in this time) and she is smooth to change but better safe than sorry for the sake of $120. Then the hood lining needs to be re-glued. Still tossing up weather to do it myself or to pay the I think $120 for it to be professionally done and know its done right. I also have to replace the heater box as the blend door is still stuck on 35% and there is somehow an internal vacuum leak. Bought a replacement one from a fellow modder for $50 and have to drop down to the big smoke to get it. I was suppose to collect it last weekend but was still waiting for the springs to arrive and now I dont want to drive her more than I have to until the Harmonic's done so I might drop him a post to see if next weekends ok. I hate stuffing people around, but this harmonic and belt's really bad and dont want to have to fix more stuff because I drove it down to get the heater box instead of doing these things first. |

Quick one too in regards to the paint scratches
This car is a daily and my wife uses it to take our 7 year old to school and shop. I would love to clean the paint up, but I am sure I would jump off the closest cliff not if but when she comes home and the cars scratched to the s**t house again so I am going to leave it. Same with the wheels. The rims are faded and have bits of wrong colour paint on them from the previous owner attempting to clean them up. If the missus mounts a gutter or scratches them on a bush or something, as they are right now who cares. If I got them cleaned up or bought smick wheels I know they would get f**k and I will be heart broken. From a distance she looks clean and unless your really looking you can't see most of the imperfections. Most importantly mechanically she is 100% ( or will be when the harmonics done) and as long as it stays that way and no cancer shows on the car I will be a happy man. |
