if you could piggy back a BA ECU to the EL ECU then you'd be set.

Yesh, but how? :(

you create a hybrid loom, its quite simple.

you use the EL ecu to control your trans and the BA ecu to run the engine

this is what people have to do when they run programmable ECU with an auto trans

it has been done many times before

Okay well, it looks as if the stock BA ECU is a happening thing! I have the car booked into BPT Motorsport on the 12th of March to have everything sorted out electrical wise.

The only problem now is that i have to find an ECU and get the throttle cable connected to the throttle!!! ARGH!!!

Aparantly there is a code printed on a lable on the ECU and there are four digits in bold which refers to what the ECU controls (like 6 cylinder auto, 8 cylinder manual, i guess). Can anyone confirm if this is what the code refers to?

I Think your talking about the tear tag number. its located on the side of the pcm and yes it identifies what sort of car it is for

Ahh okay i see now. I contacted my local Fraud dealer and they gave me a code off the ECU of '32AH' which is to suit an XT six cylinder automatic.

Can anyone confirm this against their own cars? The car must be a BA N/A six cylinder automatic.

OH YEAH!! I totally forgot about that! Heeheehee

EDIT: Ooooo hang on, that means im going to have to make a custom accellerator pedal as the sensor for how hard the pedal is pressed is one complete unit......hmmm.

Haha...no :P , i like the exclusivity of having a DOHC EL, plus how many BA's do you see on the road these days? Heeheehee :P

I managed to track down the original BA ECU from the car that the engine came out of! How lucky was that!?

I've also installed all the engine loom and an electronic accellerator pedal will be here tomorrow, so have to make a bracket so i can mount it inside the cabin.

Well, she's got a face again, boy have i missed it haha. I'll start work on the bonnet on the weekend.

This is what the BA electronic pedal looks like. Don't try and take one out of a BA, do yourself a favour, it's an absolute nightmare! You thought getting to the dissy on an EL was bad....

BPT are going to knock up a bracket for me and mount it up, schweet. I don't know how they are going to manage the wiring, but they assure me it IS going to work....i'll just close my eyes and hope for the best :(
