nothing wrong with that dump pipe mate.
looks alright!
with the standard flange, you can actually cut off the flare bit and grind the whole section flat.
i do this with the E series manifolds for a wastegate.
its a perfect fit for a 2.5" flange from an exhaust shop, can only assume it would be the same for the size of the dump pipe (im guessing 3"?)

*Sigh* Well, quite simply, the TPS plug and the MAP sensor plug on the engine harness are exactly the same, when i had the loom off when i took the engine out, i kind of...err...cut and shut the wrong plug. I pride myself on my electrical and electronics knowledge, so to do something like this...arrrgh

The throttle now works perfectly, the way it should. BUT now the engine wont fire at all. It'll crank fine, theres definitely a smell of fuel it just dosn't sound like it's sparking. Does the fuel pump continue to operate while the engine is cranking?

Yeah it's not bad, just cant get to the nut closest to the engine as the pipe is too close to the nut you can't get a spanner or socket over it, not even a stubby open ender :x . What you have done was exactly what i was going to do to the stock dump, only an opportunity came along to purchase the 4" dump cheaply, so i did that instead and sold the stock dump on to another FM member :D

yeah the 4" dump is the way to go!
its a shame about the bolt.
you could heat it up and bash it in a tad around the bolt hole?

I'd say you may have damaged the MAP sensor electronics by connecting the TPS plug to it.
The Sensor power wiring is opposite between MAP and TPS.
His my crappy paint scan, See the circled sections of the wiring diag,
Image

If you can get a diag tool and check what value the MAP/IAT sensor is spitting, see what value is reads with Ign on and when cranking. Ign on should be around 14.7psi. Cranking will be significantly lower. If you have a pressure regulator and a compressor you can pressurize the intake manifold and check the above atmosphere reading as well. I wouldn't go higher then 10psi, a 2bar map sensor max reading is 14.7psi above atmosphere.

Hope that helps :D

Hmm, not sure if it would be damaged or not, guess we'll have to see when it goes in for a toon.

Exhaust will be finished tomorrow, i ended up getting an off the shelf Manta 3" rear pipe and middle pipe/muffler intended for e-series V8, it's pretty much the same as the six cylinder exhaust from just under the drivers seat, back. Mates heading over tomorrow to finish up all the welding and close the gap between the muffler and dump pipe.

Later down the line, when the car is eventually running, i'm going to get him to make a split 4" stainless steel dump and Venom 4" cat setup.

Intercooler piping is next on the list, just have to find somone who can supply aloooominum bends/pipe cheaply. I'm wondering how good a quality the stuff is on ebay.

That's a good question about the Ebay IC pipework. I have read that it's pretty thin, but never delt with it myself. I was thinking about an ebay fmic & 2 inch pipe kit for my mighty boy.

Cheers

Yeah a bloke i know bought some ebay cooler piping, tried welding it and ended up throwing it out due to a poor quality aluminium as well as being super thin. I'll have to go see a few fab workshops armed with a list and see what kind of good stuff they can supply.

The exhaust is 99% finished, mate is going to take the front pipe into his work and finish welding up a flange, which is a bit tricky to attach 1.3mm steel to 8mm. Once i get that back i'll have it all bolted in and ready to go! Wooo, another check off the list

Car's can get that way after a while. I hope the saving doesn't take too long so you can then enjoy this great car once again!

Cheers
