Haha, it's mates rates. A mate of mine has an HR31 GTX which he is installing an RB25DET and newer gearbox, i'm just picking up the scraps so to say haha

Hmmm, thinking about it, this is ANOTHER twincam conversion! That says something haha.

As I understand it, there is a whole lot of wiring and circuit boards to be made up for these to work. You need the electronics to go with it or it won't function like the BA does.

BenJ

Wont be an issue this time as he is fitting and wiring a factory BA ECU

One thing that was pointed out to me, and i think it was mentioned before in this thread, if there isn't a CANBUS module (?) the ECU will refuse to operate???

I have no idea what this module does and why it would be needed. Could the ECU be programed to operate without the CANBUS module?

Needless to say, i'm slightly worried...

I'd imagine BPT have that under control.
Pete(XR9UTE) mentioned in another thread that the BA PCMs reliance on the CANbus (security feature) to operate has been switched off with the Sniper tuning thingo, they put a 5.4 into a GT40 rep using it.
I reckon you'll be fine.

the CAN (controller area network) is just that, a network. its the devices that are on the CAN that are involved in the security. Namely the BEM which talks to the ignition barrel/key/ecu.

get it right you guys :P

however, i've been told/heard from several people that the security in the ecu can just be disabled as steady said.

i hope bpt pull through with the goods this week!

I'm assuming the BPT guys will put the car on the dyno to at least check air/fuel ratios and what-have-you. They should be able to give us a final at-the-wheels power figure.

As for taking it down the strip i'll give it a week or so to settle in and do what it has to do, then we'll see. Maybe a low 15 to high 14 second pass?
