Rang BPT again today, car still isn't finished. But it has gone onto being a 'prioroty' job  . I asked if they could have the car done by the end of next week as i am going on holidays, but again, still can't promise me anything.

To be continued.....

You would have to expect delays in this project as it is a custom and to a large extent a step into the unknown.

I do agree with you, which is another reason why i havn't gone completely off the rails yet.

When i rang them, the had the dash out taking out all the old wiring and putting in the new stuff, they still have to wire in the oxygen sensor, power steering pressure switch, air con controls, instrumentation etc etc.

are u ever getting this car back? i would be mega p****d off right now if i were you, it sounds like they have probably put a very low priority on getting your car done, i dont know how you are keeping your cool after all this time, id be getting the car out of there and taking it somewhere else..

I would be itching to get the thing back too, but I would think a with a project like this one you will need to be super patient..... it is after all a totally unknown quantity with a lot of ground breaking development work. custom looms and dual ECU's etc.... (I take it there will be twin ECU's so that you can run your trip computer, climate control and instrument cluster?)

I have known certain performance houses (a particularly well known one in perth) to be given an EB XR8 for 12 months whilst my mate was away overseas to try to get 350hp at the fly. All they did was heads/cam and rotating assembly and even after that they couldn't get it to run right. And it wound up taking them 16 months in total....... Not exaclty rocket science and they still took 4 months over a year!!! Snapper heads...... Wound up in the small claims tribunal. Happily, my mate got all his money back, but that poor old EB never did run right again. Hunted like a b**ch and was thirstier than an alcoholic at a Mosque.

I am not suggesting that BPT are going to pull the same trick with you (there are far too many happy customers on this forum it seems), but it goes to show how bad it can get!!!

Good luck there, but me thinks it could be a little while yet. Fingers crossed that it's not tho, cos I am quite keen to see the final outcome for this conversion!!

18 page thread, so i guess we woulda heard about it if there was.....

I was afraid this would happen......promises of "yeah we can do that, no worries"...famous last words!!!!! Glad it's you paying for it all at the end Fordman....i'm sure it will be worth it.

Makes you wonder with all the technology available, why the aftermarket hasn't offered a twin-cam conversion for the previous models I6....Money thats why!!!! I know why Dansedgli gave up...it is a lot to deal with.....IMHO, would be easier to make a BA-BF to look like an EF-EL, though you would be lucky to find a panel beater with that much passion for their craft.

Cheers

Daz :D

I'm actually interested in one of the 3.8 v6's the falcon would have in future.. they will become cheapish to buy at some stage and are a modern high tech motor..

I would love one in an e series with an Eaton supercharger or twin turbos on it...

Now, we're talking................but i suspect to much technology to make an engine swap a viable option..........i subscribe to the K.I.S.S. formula.

There was an aftermarket twin cam head for the early SOHC motors. Krogdahl made it and it was around $5k to buy and it gave an extra 20kw from memory.

I dont think they sold that many :P

Mine was off the road for over a year. 7 months of that was sitting in a workshop. I got sick of it going nowhere and didnt like the fact that when the car was finished it was still an EA with lots of work to do to bring it up to scratch.

I remember complaining when rank rotary took 3 months to do a turbo conversion on my EB back before I started working on my own cars. In hindsight they did a s**t more work than what happened with my twin cam EA.

K.I.S.S formula ftw. 300rwkw is easily attainable with the SOHC motor and you dont even have to pull it out.
