Phwoar, you'd be wanting a bit more in the budget, unless all the parts are stolen haha. I'd probably bank on about 2.5-3k at least to get all the mechanical side of things sorted.

Hey,

Glad to hear some good news. A lot off effort for only 50 or thereabouts Kw. Having said that, at leats a turbo conversion is a bolt in/plug and play proposition.

Kudos Fordman, for your patience.....

ENJOY

8-) Daz 8-)

Bingo! That was the aim of the game, sort of haha. I'm keeping future modification in mind.

i guess your glad u took the time with someone elses car instead of your own....

a major discount should be offered to compensate the poor guy....

good luck to anyone considering sending their car there

Hello There,

With projects like this you would want to make sure that it is done in sweat time rather than rush and end up with a crap job like happens out there.

I don't believe you are really in a position to comment about how we run our workplace.

When you have done the convertion yourself then come back and say something really worth while.

I was excited as much as Matt when it fired up first crank. There were a number of technichal constraints that had to be overcome to make things work correctly.

I am also sure that Matt would question why I was on the internet so much rather than spend time on his car if I had been posting every five minutes. We simply do not have the time to do what you do.

Regards,

Barry Batten.

this was not a simple "bolt a new turbo on" or "change the rear discs" job, im sure they spent alot of time on it and are very happy with there acheivments (sorry i cant spell)

Dude you have no idea when it comes to building a car especailly a conversion practically never done to a E series. Think about it wiring in a BA ECU to run everything plus all other things that had to be modified to make the car run correctly.

bpt motorsport

Hats of to you as your probably only 1 of very few who will wire up something like this and take the time to do the job right once and once only. I know that Sydney workshops wouldnt even touch a job like this as its to much of a headache and better for them to wire in a aftermarket ECU and tune it and charge u a arm and a leg.

fordman

Believe me you rather wait to get a job done once and done properly instead of getting a quick job and have crap wiring and probably have never ending problems, and from what you paid to get the job done is a pretty good price for a custom wiring job like that.

Again Great work and keep it up both Fordman & BPT Motorsports

Well, it is official. I have seen the car with my own eyes today, it does run and boy does it run beautifully! I'm over the moon! After all the tension of wheather the car will run or not, it really has been worth the wait and i can't thank the guys at BPT enough for what they have done.

Barry went through every single thing that has been done to the car and it really is mind bogglingly staggering what has been modified and created to get the show on the road and on top of it all, it looks like it rolled out of the factory. Attention to detail has NOT been overlooked, all wiring has been hidden or run in the original cable tubing or loomed up. A seperate diagnostic plug has been added to the interior fuse panel for future diagnostics and programming.

Umm, what else? The factory cruise control buttons will be working, very happy about that, air con is a bit iffy at the moment, as i don't have any gas lines installed, but it can be added down the line with ease, i'm not concerned about that, the BBM will still be operational and can be adjusted when it is activated by a flash tune or with the use of a DashDAQ which is incredibly awesome! That will be the next thing i save for, but at around $700 it isn't cheap, but it is a wicked piece of gear. New coolant and oil pressure senders will be used to get the factory gauges going, the electronic pedal is a working thing and is very responsive, all that needs to happen now, is a few minor electronic modifications to get the instrument cluster working and have the dash bolted back up again. I know there was a heap more things, but it's late and i can't remember them all right now haha.

There is a software system called 'Sniper Tuning' or something to that effect, where i can buy a ECU flash unit and the software and do my own tuning! That is quite appealing, but it's going to be expensive. Maybe something to look at when the budget builds up again. The budget has blown out a little bit more with some essental parts needing to be purchased, but without these parts the car will not run, it just means i'm going to have to save a little bit longer, but hopefully not too long.

But with all the stress and tension building up untill now, it really has been worth it. I have been in contact with barry over the phone occasionally to check up on things and make sure things are running smoothly, it's not as if BPT have been keeping me in the dark, but after seeing what has been going into the car pretty much all is forgiven, as there truly has been a phenominal ammount of research and testing to be done and i really do feel that BPT should be cut some slack. I really can't stress how much work has gone into this project.

My mate took some pictures and a video of the car running straight out of the extractors, sounds awesome haha. I should be getting them tomorrow, stay tuned......

Oh and a big thanks to everyone that has helped out with advice, knowlege and positive comments, it really has been valuable to me. Thanks again!

Good to see you're happy with it matt. Although I do think a bit more communication might not have gone awry (not necessarily posting on the forums, but a phone call to the owner of the project wouldn't hurt) but at the end of the day if your happy thats all that matters.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

The next addition will be a 'DashDAQ' http://www.dashdaq.com/features/whatis.htm , a full system data logger, gauge display amd fault finder, it basically plugs staright into the OBD2 connector which has been added to interior fuse panel.

I've never been a huge fan of gas, i say use the worlds oil and create greenhouse gasses haha! But a turbo system is totally plausible, but when that will be implemented is a different thing. The engine is running EXACTLY like it would in a BA, nothing has been compromised and VCT is running like normal. Think of the car as a BA with an EL shell. I'm hoping power will be a little better than stock as BPT are going to do a bit of a tune to it, but even if it is stock, i'm going to have at LEAST 40kw and 35nm up on the SOHC engine anyway, but if all this seems a but over the top for so little gain, think of the future possibilities

I'll try and get the pictures off my mate today, the car isn't fully complete yet, the dash is still out and hanging around, but i did happen to get video footage of the car running and a bit of sound too. Stay tuned....
