Go back and read through the last eleventy-billion pages of this thread to see what i have been through and how much money i have spent :P then come back and call me a nancy haha.

Nah, i'm one of the few people who like auto's plus i'm not a fan of the T5 anyway. If i had to go manual it wouldn't be anything less than a T56. At the moment, i just want to get the car running properly and back on the road. Maybe later i'll look at gearboxes, hydraulics, pedals, clutches, tailshafts, diffs etc etc, all the good stuff that comes to mind when doing a manual conversion.

Come on man, the T5 is also a long way from being a s**t box as well. Mine is just coming up on 150k kms and still shifting great. I don't think you have ever shifted a muncie, or a early ford single rail, or hell even a slightly warn 4spd in a Mighty Boy! Man, that's a s**t shift! How's about a crash box 3spd in a EJ holden?

I am disappointed to read about the drama with the auto, but i also know it will be nutted out & sorted in the near future, so i can't wait to read how it was done. Keep up the good work Fordman!

I wonder if a BA ute ECU could run a swapped BA I6 in a manual car like my EB? Just for future reference, if i have to swap in another bloody engine into my EB, i might as well consider going the full hog eh?

Cheers

The reason your T5 is still shifting sweet is exactly that, it has only 150,000km's on it. Knowing me i'll probably inherit a T5 from an XF which has been around the universe twice hahaha!

As far as i know a Black Oak ECU can be programmed to do anything, i might have to look into what can actually be done to them...

Ahh well, i know EXACKERY what needs to be done to get my car going, it's just the issue of money right now

Pretty sure the BA Ute ECU uses the transducer in the gearbox for their speed sensor.

was there a reason the std ECU couldn't be left to do the transmission only?

ABS-less ute's use it. The rest get their speed reference from the ABS module.

For the factory ECU to function it would need tach input, vehicle speed, tps and the auto wiring complete.. i think that would have been a bit of an effort to achieve, as alot of that system is gone now.

I bet there's a copy of "Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy" instead of a melways in that XF! ROFL. I didn't think a XF T5 would fit behind a E series or newer I6? Input shaft lenght wise that is.

A T5 isn't that hard to rebuild to be back to shifting sweet again. Clutch peddle & the peddle box are the biggest let downs in the E series i think. Not the T5 itself.

A black oak ecu? Never heard of them before. Sounds interesting. I'm playing with a MegaSquirt ECU myself atm for my Mighty boy.

FordMan - is your new BA ECU running the ABS in your mont?

Cheers
