Sorry i know you didnt want anymore talk about the HID's, but heres a post from another forum which lists what you need to do to have a chance of them being engineered.....

"In Australia, ADR requires cars fitted with HID kits to have the following:

Obviously the HID globes, balasts, ignitors, etc.
Auto Leveling kit
Auto washer kit
Correct Projector system with the corrcet cut-off

Without just 1 of these items, it is not legal to be used on public roads in Australia (can still be used on private roads or off-road)."

Work has steadilly been progressing on the shifter, i'm just doing a little bit at a time and this is what i have come up with so far...

Had to open the tunnel right up so the shifter will sit lower to clear the centre console. Looks a bit shabby at the moment, but i'll be tidying it up later.
Image

Shifter sitting in tunnel, i still need to trim a bit off the bottom of the shifter and make a box to seal everything up.

Centre console installed.

Centre console trim. Please excuse my sexy legs haha.

This is what the shifter will look like in the end with the use of a manual shifter boot. Very happy with positioning and clearances. Shifter in 'Park'.

Shifter in 'Drive'

Shifter in 'Performance/Sequental' mode.

No boot.

Whats the legality of not having the quadrant display? Fairlane dash is out of the question with the BA stuff I would think.

It is an ADR requirement for the Gear Position to be displayed.

I have installed an NF Fairlane Cluster in my EB to get around this.

Yeah, unfortunately the shift display on my DL cluster isn't operational anymore. If when it comes time to get everything signed off and comlied and the shifter issue comes up, i'll just take out the centre console trim and boot and put the BA shifter facia back on.

Plug B pin 41 on the Ba computer is the Auto trans range switch. You might be able to use that for the high series cluster.

I love that shifter! Looks way sexy & better than just an auto stick like the factory fit!

Keep up the good work man!

Cheers

hate auto with the manual boot - is there no way to mock something up with the ba fascia that looks nice and tidy?

Nope, as far as i know the Smartshield has been disabled on the BA PCM and the EL Smartlock is still in action.

Interesting bit of information that, i will have to see if it can be implemented somehow.

Thank's mate, apreciated! I like it too, especially now i have the SSS side of things to come, the next best thing to a manula gearbox, should make driving an auto that much more amusing.

Nah i like it the way it is now, not much of a fan of the BA shift surround.

Shifter looks very well suited to the EL console!

Well done, a hell of a lot tidier than mine (under the console) :P

Another option for the gear select indicator is getting a wagon 3-hole surround (where the rear demist button & the auto aerial button go in sedans... 3rd button = wagon tailgate wiper).

Maybe a little LCD unit slotted in the 3rd button hole would work?
