Now with the ever impending turbo install, stay tuned for another epic 38 pages! HAHAHAHAHA!

And, I, dear Fordman, missed seeing your reply until just now also. This is not indicative of lack of interest.

If it takes 38 pages to get a bloody turbo installed I will go find some large Maori and Samoan boys who make our league player exports to Aussie look like school kids and send them over to work out the first 36 pages with your supplier.

No, no need to thank me. Thank the people who designed these huge guys with short tempers...

Although all that with a turbo thrown in would look mighty good in the front a station wagon brother.... Maybe there will be a complete technical document yet......

Wow & Wow!

Cool to read it's on the road & happening, even cooler to read a turbo is on the horizon! Great stuff!

I've been driving my g/f's turbo tx5 too much of late, and i'm feeling the need for boost, so much that i might just have to get a low boost setup for my EB, as i can't wait until i finish off my torana! That's too many years away.

Keep up the good work Fordman351, can't wait to see it turbo'd.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

Thanks guys!

Yeah, most of my mates have VLT's and one is doing a single turbo setup on a VR V8 Commodore, so there's alot of inspiration around to get off my butt and get some stuff togeter to throw a turbo on and get some sort of tune happening.

My stock XR6T intercooler rocked up yesterday, but seeing as i'm not going to be using the stock piping anymore, i won't be needing it lol. I have an exhaust manifold on the way, that should be here some time this week and KRUPTD has kindly supplied a dump pipe, so it's a start. That's some of the bigger bulkier things out the way beside the turbo itself, so all that's left is to get some oil and water lines, a few gaskets, nuts bolts and studs and all should be good. I keep forgetting about a tune which i would imagine to be around the $1000 mark, so that's a bit of a setback. Plus a mate of mine who is a boiler maker is going to fab up all the intercooler piping for me for a pretty good price.

Slowly but surely i'll get there...one day

and dont forget 31s lol

with the extra parts, they are cheap (in terms of genuine ford vs pirtek/enzed) ! i got quoted at ford like $176 in total for both oil lines or something.
gaskets and nuts and bolts are easy - ask Kim to hit up Brendan (SWB) for the parts - he should have plenty for cheap

btw, i found 2 parts you can use :D
a stock BOV ($15) and a supply oil line ($15) :)
both seem to be in good condition. ill inspect them again today in the light :)

Ahh yes, can't forget the 31's haha.

Yeah i can get all the small bits and pieces through work, that's no worries. I just scoped out an XR6T today at a car yard to find where all the water and oil lines are routed, the water lines are easy enough as they just tap into the metal heater pipes.

But how is the oil supply line plumbed into the block? Being a banjo fitting, does it just take off from the oil pressure sender with a special adapter?

If it's as easy as that, i'll give you some good lovin' and a bit of cash for that oil line

With my torana's oil line, i just fit a 2 way adapter to the oil sender hole in the block, then put the sender in one side & the oil feed for the turbo in the other.

I'm trying to remember the oil line on my g/f's tx5 turbo, i think there is a threaded hole in the block you screw the oil line into, but i'm not sure.

I'd love to know how the Xr6T is fed for oil.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

The oil line is fed via a addapter on the oil pressure sensor. You simpy pull the oil pressure sensor out screw the addapter in connect the feed line on then scew the pressure sensor back in. Easy.

That's exactly how i thought it worked. The adapter has holes in it for oil to pass through into the banjo and the sender screws onto the end of that adapter. Thanks for confirming that 'bollocks'. I think this is the part?

Well, i recieved my exhaust manifold today (thanks to wilbaz on XR6T.com), one part down, many to go.

Yep thats the part, You will also have to drill & tap a hole in the side of the sump for the oil return
The mould is already there you just drill it.

Yeah i noticed the casting mark on the righthand side of the sump, i'll just get it drilled out with lots of grease and tap a couple of bolt holes for the stock drain tube.

Well, the car is off the road temporarily. The power steering decided to blow out an o-ring where the high pressure line attaches to the underside of the pump. Well, actually it's not blown out but it more or less a bit oversize and has a big kink in it from improper installation not done by myself :x, lets leave it at that.

So hopefully there are going to be a couple of hydraulic shops open tomorrow so i can reduce a few fittings to one to prevent any leaks in the future and to get rid of that god awful swivel joint :x
