Hey ---
I've got one of those exact same tools too! Give us a look at your drive shaft removal tool and the starter removal tool?... |

I'm not giving up the secret of the starter motor bolt removal tool, but you do have to pull a face a certain way and yell out a certain combination of expletives to get the inner bolt

EDIT - My tool for top bellhousing bolts is slightly different upon closer inspection. By using a short extension bar (SHORT, like two inches) between forward universal turning facilitator and socket it was easier to get the required torque to get the bloody things moving...
You must have a different version of the inner starter bolt removal tool. Although by moving the placement of the coil packs from factory EF and using an EL engine mount bracket it is a lot easier than EF models as originally tested. My tool requires a couple of more steps... 1) insertion of arm whilst twisting 180 degrees (the Ford MoToCo equivalent to helping a cow give birth, and just as dangerous if you get it wrong - was stuck for quite some time once!), 2) tongue out left side of mouth 3) eyes shut tightly 4) the long string of specific expletives Sounds like a similar tool, although maybe a slightly different model... It does get easier with practice. |

I actually found it quite easy the first time, as there were no heater hoses in the way, that made a huge difference having them there. I tried for nearly half an hour to get that barsturd of a bolt!
The engine is now out and living on the floor of the garage. Fun times. Sorry for all the useless dribble type posts i'm making, i'm kind of using this thread as my personal blog too |

Next plan of attack is to scrub and degrease the engine bay and start masking off whats not to be painted. The loom on the left hand side of the engine bay cannot be poked back into the cabin which is annoying, so i'l have to bunch it all up in a placky bag so as not to get paint all over it.
Then i'll start on the engine. I'm not going to take the sump off, i'm getting a bloke i know who owns a fab shop to drill out the casting in the sump and we'll just flush it out with oil. I also need to get the hole in the front of the inlet manifold welded up (where the butterfly rod passes through) and also have the heater pipes made. Other than that, pretty smooth sailing from here. |

In regards to bolt removing tools sometimes 10 year old kids are great cause they are really flexible. I once had a injected Gq patrol and the only way to get number 4 spark plkug out was to throw him in engine bay hang onto his ankles and let hin twist that ratchet to his hearts content. Give him $5 and hes happy and i have no scrapped knuckles cramps etc.
Love this thread would love to do but I reckon electronics are the work of the devil. Steve |

No project ever seems like it's worth it until you get to enjoy it, and i say enjoy it as a car project is never really finished is it?
Cheers ToranaGuy

Lulz! Love your methods fezlane.
Well, it's nearly the big day, engine bay is all masked up and ready to go. Towtruck will be here tomorrow at about 9am to pick up the car and off to the panel shop for a new lick of paint. Painting should be done within a couple of days, hopefully my masking up will have saved a bit of time. Goodbye basecoat red... |

Looks good man, but almost sad at the same time as it looks like all your progress has been undone. We all know that when all the gear goes back in it will be looking sweeter & tidier than before, so it will be worth it!
Cheers ToranaGuy
