hey found you!
just posted this on codys beaut xg thread, so hope you don't mind me copy/pasting.. too old to learn to type!
got a new german hiflo filter ($50!) waiting at post office; will put old box and xh snorkel in and retire the pod.... gonna go for silicon elbow for in take as I cant find the larger EA pipe anywhere...
got noisy lifters just this week.... is xg an eb or ed engine?? will ed rokers/lifters go in???? same 4.0l i6 isn't it???

i believe the lifters are EB-AU the nason ones on Ebay so either way should fit haha

1) SOHC do not have lifters, they have HLA's - Hydraulic Lash Adjusters.

2) EA - ED HLA's are a different size to EF/EL. get the right set for the right rocker set. EF/EL rockers are interchangable with EA-ED Rockers.

ahh yea i realized that after i wrote it but oh well HLA's are just so simple to work on to me

and yea i know but didn't know are the EF/EL rockers and stronger then the EA-EDs as my EA rockers have no "springs" in them not sure what its named but my "mechanic" pointed it out to me on a ED motor vs mine

As title says

What mirrors should i go with ?

the current mirrors or EF/EL or EB-EDs

Also with the EB-ED mirrors do i need to change the upper door rubber seal thing or anything else ?

Also what is involved in the EF/EL mirror conversion to the EA to EDS

thank you in advance

Not sure on differences but a set of ba mirrors would look good and you can colour code the backing

Better off putting newer parts/upgrade instead of going old parts like putting ef lights on an fg :?

If the ba's fit would greatly modernise the car looks really nice as it is but a colour coded set will make it glow

if you wanna get technical I believe the 3.9L EA-EB1 motor the shims/HLAs were 14mm. EB2 onwards 4L was 11mm

I say colour code your current ones. I think the roundedness off the EF/EL dont suit the boxyness of your EA...

Then go ED ones. Fairly sure they are different slightly that way no XF mirrors and still suit boxcar.

Ok ed ones it is then but I think I've got EF covers I believe already painted as I mistook a EF/el as a box car
