Hey guys i finally got my a*** into gear and started a build thread. I bought the car privately in Bendigo for $4500 back in January 09, it had 188,000kms on the clock.
Its an XG Spac, had a 5 speed, avanti volt 18's, dual fuel and the usual stuff. Needed a few ball joints and gas tank stamped for road worthy. Bit of a dissa i dont have a photo from when i first got in but its looked like any other s pac. Since ive had the car ive replaced the tailgate, lowered all round, put an XH rear bumper on it and had the bumpers and side strips colour coded.Ive also replaced the Avanti volts with some GTP replicas (roadtripped to Canberra to pick up), changed steering wheel, billet short shifter, stinger road killed the cabin, replaced a fair bit in the front end, had new HD clutch put in, XH intake storkel and k&m panel filter, installed clear repeaters and bought a tubliner for it. A few progress shots of the strips... Before During A few shots putting in the stinger.. And a shot of how it rolls today... Hopefully get a 2.5 catback system on it shortly, i have an EB ticky head, wade 1673 and pacies ready to be put on when i get around to it. I spend my days in the office reading up on ford mods. Ive learnt alot from fordmods and have met some good people along the way. Thanks for looking cheers Last edited by dahayes on Tue Mar 02, 2010 12:12 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

Mint example of an XG mate, nice work!! Keen to see updates when the planned upgrades go ahead.
I reckon a set of twin lights up front would look awesome on this |

Don't see many XG utes in this sort of condition.
I agree about the twin lights. |

Thanks for the kind words lads. Have definately considered the twin lights, if i can snap some up cheap one day ill definately do it. Ive also thought about having a crack at something like the BA light mod in like Ben j's done, i like the idea of that being somewhere in between.
Got the 3.45 LSD in last night and for anyone thinking about doing this upgrade i would recommend it. Going from 3.27 its a noticable difference in pick up to 100, not to mention the extra wheel spin. havent got the brakes %100 yet as i ran out of light but ill sort it out tonight.Cheers |

indeed some say there's not much difference but it is a good change i had 3.23's and changed to 3.45's - nice still thinking about those 3.9's under the bench though

Hi All just a quick update...
A shot of the ute after recieving a touch up last week. Stop start peak out traffic, as you can see not the best result. Sore him coming in my rear veiw mirror http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/2133/utesstuff001.jpg In the process of getting quotes now, he had third party so atleast im covered. Panel beater thinks mostly tail gate and bumper damage, also said i was fairly lucky the tailgate on it in the crash was a cheap Thaiwanese one or it could have been alot worse. Also a shot from the diff change... http://img718.imageshack.us/i/utesstuff004.jpg/ Thats all at this stage, will update again when things are more sorted. |

haysie, i know its a long shot but you didnt used to own a black skyline in bendigo did u? I lived there in 2002-2003 and i remember the car and some bad s**t that happened to it at the time. If your the same bloke then hopefully this turns out better than the skyline did.

Hi all ...just a quick update.
Finally had the ute assessed for AAMI and shes booked in the have the rear end fixed up next week.will post up pics when its all done.. In the meanwhile ive had my pacies and 2.5 inch cat back fitted, kept the standard cat. Fitted the pacies myself and drove it down to exhaust shop early one morning straight out of the extractors my lord it was loud as 5.30am. Slight to moderate increase in performance, particularly in mid and hi rev range and a pretty good note aswell. Easter provided a good chance to fit my wade 1673 cam aswell, ive had a few issues starting it after completion for some reason. Theres still a few things i need to check but i ran out of time before work today. Im guessing its battery related. Anyway thats all from me for now, will update shortly with any news.Hope you all had a relaxing enjoyable easter.. |

Don't forget to mention your big bro, Hazey... He's a top bloke for lending you tools and doesn't mind sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience from owning a few Blue Ovals himself
My turn to update... got the rig to run again with a new coil, although the battery has decided to call it quits (might be time for an Optima Yellow top, mate!). New cam feels good, but still looking forward the next round of engine mods! |
