All this talk about books reminds me that I still have your book Clampy.

If/when I one day get the cash to spend on the car, I will be going AFR165s as well. Not really gonna look into it too much until I have some cash behind me though.

I was sure i seen someone on here with the 2020 in their sig  . Hows the idle with that cam, like can you tell its got a lumpier cam at idle? And, whats the cam like for low end torque?
Also, wanna swap upper manifolds?

I was in the same boat mate, had all these ideas in my head for the ute but didnt wanna get too involved until i had the cash there to go ahead with it.
And i'd love to see some AFR165's and a decent manifold on your beast mate, would be awesome.

i think its the tom wilson book that you have of mine, kilma.. ill grab it off u at the york cruise then. make sure i bring it(go stick it in the car now :P)

yeh xh4, i bought the car with the 6 speed..
but as far as i know its very expensive. also the unfortunate thing is that if u get the .50 ratio 6th gear you need 3.9+ diff ratio to make it useable, and they're hard to get a hold of for borg warner 78 diffs(as are 4.11s which im running).. i may end up whacking in a 9" centre tho :)

3.9 wasnt hard to get at all, I got mine quite easily from diff technics here in Sydney. 4.11 is not that hard either

2020's have lots of low down torque and will run through to mid range nicely but drops off well before hitting the high rpm's.
Good street cam, great with launches.

Dont blame for wanting to keep ya manifold
Cam sounds like it will suit my needs perfect, Looks like that will be the one i'll go with.
So, combo so far will be AFR165's, Crane 2020, YT2020 r/rockers, Explorer, 65 or 70mm t/b, 75mm MAF, 24lb au injectors and a tweecer or capa chip to get it all right.
Also get new twin 2 1/4" exhaust all the way to rear and 3.73 final drive.

What do you guys reckon?

2020 is 208/216 @ .050 duration..
2031 is 214/220 @ .050

if i were you id go the 2031. you've got a light car, you're getting 3.7 gears, and the design of the heads and using that manifold naturally build great torque themselves. my comp with 218/224 has a great torque and power curve.. at 2500 u can feel it really gettin up there when it hits 3 grand it rockets. doesnt stop till just before 6. even crane say the 2020 good up to 5000. go a bit bigger :)

What about the 2030, not too keen on using 1.7 rockers fr the 2031.
