The cam isn't what causes it to cut out, it's the underdrives cos the alternator is running slower. Well, I'm assuming that's what causes it on mine... Hmmm..... i'm running underdrives on mine and was before the new engine combo and had no idle isues at all. chooka wrote: Dont just get them bogged over as later on they'll show up.Keep up the good work.

I never gave i a kick in the pants in the first place. I dout my tax cheque will be big enough to put too much into it, but we'll see.

The cam isn't what causes it to cut out, it's the underdrives cos the alternator is running slower. Well, I'm assuming that's what causes it on mine... I got Bpt underdrives on mine and it was cutting out every now and then. On closer inspection the alternator was pretty much burnt out, after the replacemnet it was running fine.

Well guys a few things have been happening since last update, no major problems though.
Only problem was a backfiring issue i had one day when coming off the throttle. Began to remove plugs in no particular order starting with #3, and what do ya know, two big cracks all the way down the porcelain. A new set of plugs went in and all was sweet. Also when i pulled the old plugs i noticed they werent gapped (my fault), ever since they had been up n running it was running plugs with only .75mm gap. So i gapped all the new ones up to 1.2mm. I have finally done the intake mod i had been planning and boy what a difference it made. I just went the way of cutting out a square out of the front of the lower section. I understand doing this mod to a near stock car wont give a noticeable increase in power just create a nice intake roar, but on a car like this that is demanding more air and was basically getting strangled by the std sealed box it made a very noticeable difference in the drivers seat thats for sure. Usually hard acceleration in 2nd would be fine all the way to 5500rpm with only the slightest hint of losing traction at about 4500rpm, but after airbox mod hard acceleration resulted in frying tyres from about 4000rpm in 2nd, same thing in the wet but instead 3rd gear. Same road same temp tyres etc, the improvement is definately there. That brings me to where im at now, fixing traction issue, and while im doing that i thought i'd may aswell fix the lack of ride quality. Ute is booked in on Thursday @ Malaga Springs & Suspensions for a suspension upgrade, mainly concerend with the rear. Basically its a full bilstein set-up all round with the rear leaves being reset and modified with a reversed rebound spring and all new bushes, shackles etc. This is all getting done ready for the 'Plex to open up again so i can give it a run down the strip and get some real figures put to the combo. I also upgraded the front brakes to some DBA slotted rotors, Ferodo Formula pads and some PBR braided brake lines, all fun and games having the go but ya gotta be able to stop the thing too , especially since i've been told once over the line on the 1/4 then end comes up real quick

Yeah mate, dont worry this thing will forever be making headway, but as we all know it all comes down to $$$ $$$ $$$. Stalling issues? What stalling issues? Oh thats right, its been so good driving it since i had totally forgotten i had them . Nah seriously, its been beautiful, just bumped base idle up to 950rpm and hasnt missed a beat. Actually last time it stalled them Missus was behind the wheel , come to think of it that was the last time it was sideways too

Well guys suspension is all done and so far so smooth. Haven't driven it much yet to see if it has improved traction and axle tramp. Will give it a good run on the weekend and find out. Traction aint gonna be no good anyay untill i get some new tyres. If i can get the tyres by next wednesday i'll be running down the 1/4 on the 18's, if not i'll be borrowing a pair of EB XR 15's off a mate with 225/60's on them.
So the date is set, providing weather is good, 5th of september, first run down the strip. Hoping to crack into the 13's in full street trim, only one way to find out, wait and see.
