Best advice get there early, I probably won't race bit short on the $$ after the hols. It will be pretty busy, as it is the first night for ages. The track will be very green, as its got a new startline so don't think you'll set the world alight first time out.
Otherwise its just a matter of learning the car, and what it likes.

Yeah mate, i think launching it off the line is gonna be my main concern, hopefully with some decent tyres on the back it'll hook up well. Should be fun though for first time, i have a mate coming down aswell with his AU 220.
Like you said i spose all we can do is practice and learn the car and what it likes down there as it is obviously alot different to the street.

My mates AU XR8 220 is 5 spd man running an extreme ceramic clutch, SS Inductions CAI with 3" intake, K&N panel filter, Pacemaker Headers, Magnaflow metal cats and a twin 2 1/4" exhaust with no resonators so will be interesting to see what he makes.

Well guys, its done, the ute has been down the 1/4 and i'm more than happy with my results. Managed to get 4 runs in, was pretty busy but was a good night, and being my first time it took a bit of getting used to but i feel i got things together pretty well and most of all i bloody loved it .
Righto first run was a shocker with a 16.8 @ 98.79mph and 3.219 60ft. Was quite suprised how slippery the track was, obviously launched too hard and the first 2 gears and bit of the 3rd ended in wheel spin for half track . Mates loved it, seeing it fishtail down the track but obviously i was quite p****d off. Second run managed 14.31 @ 102.85mph and 2.578 60ft. Launch wasnt the best and 1st spun a bit more than i would have liked and gear changes werent that great but i was fairly happy that the time was around where i wanted. Third run seen me drop right into where i wanted with a 13.96 @ 103.56mph and a 2.390 60ft. Obviously launches were getting better and the ute was hooking up abit better on the throttle. Fourth and last run made a 13.86 @ 103.92mph with a 2.320 60ft. I was pretty damn happy with the results considering i was running exactly how it is on the street, on 18's with std pressure( about 35psi), hard top on, tailgate on and up and most of all with me in the drivers seat weighing in at about 125kgs, so am pretty impressed with the utes performance. One thing that really made my night was that i was absolutley smoking modified gen3's, one thing i have been wanting to do for a long time . Obviously i need to try and get my 60ft's under 2.0 seconds so if anybody has any tips/suggestions let me know as im all ears. Cheers Guys Jeff

Congrats on the times. The last one is pretty damn good for your first time down there.

Good luck with getting the 60' under 2. You will need a set of slicks (possibly semi's), or to really give your clutch a good working out (possibly both) to get that. I'd be aiming for a low 2.2 or some time in the 2.1s. As a general rule, if you shave 0.1 secs off your 60' time, you will take 0.2 secs off your ET. A low 2.2 is my best 60' time (full street trim). Were you doing big burnouts, or just little ones? On street tyres, they recommend just giving it a little squirt to basically clean the tyres rather than frying them. Frying the streets apparently heats & cools the air in the tyres too much, and the compund becomes a lot more solid (less grip). Most of all, it all comes with practice. As I said to you I'll join you down there one night this season, and we'll have a few runs.
