2.0 - 2.1 60' should be the goal, that seems to be what most manual E-Series can pull in street strim.
Having said that, I'm guessing sedans are alot easier to launch then the utes.
Like Kilma said, a tenth in 60' is said to equal 2 tenths at full track, so I think mid 13s is definately achievable!

Again, congrats man, I'm stoked for you with that time, and because I can see its got more in it!
Maybe try grabbing some smaller rims, still street tires but something with a bit more sidewall flex?
16s with 225/50s on them?

Great effort Jeff, sorry I couldn't be there to witness it, the time is good, the mph moreso.

Launching on street tyres is difficult at best, to get 2.2 - 2.3 on an 17" with leaf springs is about the best I've achieved in the XD.

If you want to have a bit better traction a set of the MT 235/60 R15s on some factory 15" rims would allow you to launch a lot better. I'd feel sorry for the T5 though... ;)

Great results there Jeff. With a few more visits down there I'd imagine you'd be getting well into the mid 13s. Realizing you're probably more interested in full street trim, it'd be cool to see how you go with 25psi in your tyres and no hard cover with tailgate down. Let me know when you're going next and I'll try and head down to set a base time before getting my work done.

Hopefully I'm just as pleased as you are once I'm done. Although I'm only hoping for low 14s!

Cheers for all the comments guys, greatly appreciated.

The pre-stage burnouts i was doing were fairly big, starting in 2nd gear and waiting till it started to let out some decent smoke then moving off into the dry. I found that with the burnouts i was doing it was helping a bit off line but i'm willing to try anything to improve the launch.

I have a set of EL FTR's here, i might try a decent set of 225/50's on them at one stage, but i'm pretty keen to see if i can get at least 13.7 with the 18's in full street trim, then start playing with tyre sizes and reducing weight etc. Next week i might just drop the tyre pressures a bit and see how i go.
Overall i was quite happy with the time, i pretty much achieved what i aimed for and more for my first run so i cant complain, i'm pretty sure i had some people doubting i would run as quick as that.

Out of interest Dave, what are a set of those MT ET Streets worth each?

I didn't think you were there as i was sure you would have come down to the lanes for a bit of a chat and a congrats lol :) .

congrats on the time! 13's is awesome i wish my missers car would get that.. although her xr8 only has 220rwhp

yeah u wanna drop the pressure to about 20psi aswell.
i was running bald 16s on my missers car and was still getting 2.2 60' so a 2.0 flat or even a 1.9 is definately not out of the question on street tyres

Great time indeed. When i saw your first pass with the tyre spin up to half track i thought a good time with those low profiles would be tough.

Good effort. Maybe a mid 13 next week. I might have a run on monday for a pre blower time, if not wednesday if the rain comes in.

Good Luck.

I think you'll find it hard to pick up THAT much, 2.1 I'd expect will be closer to the mark of what is achievable in its current trim. Any faster will mean abusing the clutch for the 60'...

Will be good to see ya down there, but remember the next Monday session isnt till the 8th of October. I will more than likely be down there next Wednesday.

He tells the truth. To all in WA, make sure you know that the Mondays are only the second Monday of every month, not every second Monday.

if thats whaat it takes :P seriously arent u abusing ur car whenever you take it down the drags anyway? whats the point of taking a car down the strip and babying it.I can run a 2.1 in my 6cylinder.
i have seen 1.9's and 2.0's on 14 and 15 second 6 cyls aswell.
i think with some good tread and a great launch a 1.9 is NOT out of the quesiton

Trust me an E series can launch a lot better than a leaf sprung X series ute... regardless of the number of cylinders. ;)

I dunno how good these would be due to the fact that you'd be adding more weight to the vehicle, but on the summit site I came across this big, flat water container type thing that you lay in the ute well and fill up with water to get a bit more weight over the rears treads. Rather that sticking weights or sandbags in there...

If the weather is good next Wed then I'll try and get down there too. What area do you live in Gregg? If its near and I'm going, I'll be able to give you a ride. I'm near the airport...

doh
well if he did those 60 foots with street tyre pressure.. then a drop in tyre pressure on some good quality tyres i dont see why he wouldnt be able to get it down a couple of tenths..
