Not a full slick but DOT radials are available in both sizes...
15s are a bit cheaper than the 16s, guess it comes down to which you'd prefer

Just out of curiosity, whether he went for the 15s or 16s, would he still end up with the same rolling diameter once tyres were on?
Also, those DOT radials you speak of, do you need tailshaft hoop with them or not?

50mm is quite a difference in tyres... The 235/60 R15 has a circumference of approx 81", and the 225/50 R16 approx 78". Personally because of the diff ratio I'd run the slightly smaller tyre to help reduce the final drive ratio.
Tailshaft loops are only needed once you run sub 12.0.. along with an ANDRA Super Street license, harness and a few other safety items.

Looks like my 1680kg TE50 with 150,000km stocko engine isn't that bad at all (14.3 97mph). Freshening it up at the moment, willn't tolerate any worse then a flat 14.0 and yes I'll be running stock cam!!!!!!

More boost = more wheelspin, less boost = bog down. I can't win either way. Oh well, high stall and fresh rubber coming soon, hopefully that will get me a 2.2 or so 60' Hahaha. There is a fine line in my car between wheelspin & bogging down. Being a manual, it is a bit easier to get it on that spot on point though. Your ET is a tad quicker than we are getting though, isn't it? Perhaps a tad, but if I could get a 2.15-2.1 60' then I could be running a 13.0 I'm making about 100rwhp more than I was on the 13.5 run now, but its rather dead low in the rev range (cam change) so we'll see what it runs in the next couple of weeks after I've gotten a few little niggly things sorted. |

You're half a second slower, and 6mph down. You are so awesome

You are so awesome Lol exactly, .5 seconds and 6mph doesnt just come for nothing. What do you mean your freshening it up. You just stripped the whole engine, ported the heads and "blueprinted" it which brought your time down to 14.3. Then you said your next step is a crow cam which is supposedly "the s**t" so now your gonna freshen it up and still run stock cam . Also i'll get my car onto a weigh bridge as soon as i can in the exact full street trim i went down in and i guarentee it will almost match your 1680kg without me, then i'm another 125kg so it wasnt no lightweight thats for sure. Then again my times were dropping all night and finished up on the 13.86@103.9mph so whos to say if i kept running my times wouldnt have dropped further, which i believe they could have. Not saying that your TE's times are s**t, they are actually quite impressive, but your comparing them to something you not even close to.

If I could be bothered running the TE then Mr t2te50 would have something to compare to... IMO no comparisons should be drawn between what an X-series ute can run, and an AU sedan, they are completely different setups.
BUT... Once upon a time I read somewhere that every 10hp is equivalent to a 1mph improvement... That puts you 60hp down

Not sure what the weight difference is or anything but yeah, its not easy to make up a half second and 6mph. I think (I can't find the damn timeslip) I ran a 13.5 @ 106mph, but I'm pretty sure I was making 270rwhp.....although MCE does tend to read a little higher than ovaboost where I get dyno'd so perhaps I was making roughly the same hp as you. I had lots more torque down low so perhaps thats where the time difference is...its such a difficult thing to measure what gets you a quicker time. With your mph you should ba able to crack a low 13...maybe 13.2 with good traction. Technically I should be running 12's already but like I said I just can't get off the line right..... what techniques are you guys using? Stalling up or rolling it on, or what?? |

Delta, what car do you have mate, mods etc, i have no idea?
For my two 13 second runs, i stalled up to approximately 1500rpm and then had to baby the clutch off the line to stop the rears lighting up, makes it a bit trickier also with a ceramic based clutch, but then theres no signs of slipping under load

Delta has a turbo 4L EF. I can't remember any more of the specs than that.

I thought you also needed one if you were running full slicks?? I won't be making it down tomorrow night. Let us know how you guys go though.

Nope its time related, not slicks...
Otherwise guys who are running 10s on DOT radials wouldn't need one
