Fired it up and was ticking its f**k head off, this is after i had a go at adjusting the lifter pre-loads. Will consider having another go at it over the weekend, if not i'll be calling someone for help lol . yeah mines coming along alright, got another project on the go at the moment so while the ute is reliable and running, its staying that way for a bit. but theres nos on the way and a few other things for the ute before i run it again. no idea on what power its making and still havent had a tune done, but it holds its own |

Sounds good mate, as long as it holds its own against some tuff cars it gives you some idea lol. I sense some nice 12sec passes on the giggle gas . May i ask what the other project involves?

Thought i'd post up abit of an update.
Saturday was going to be the day to set the lifter pre-loads and get it all back together but that idea fell to pieces when a few other things came up to do. First was to go pick up the new shoes for the ute (pic below), then helped old mate with his AU 220. We had the explorer, tickford t/b and 3" intake pipe polished up and also fitted my old set of rocker covers, which caused a drama. A drama that i should have known about due to going through the same problem. With the taller covers comes a problem with clearance to upper plenum vacuum fitting causes the requirement of a 1/2" spacer. Saturday arvo and no chance of getting a spacer to get his car back together i offered him mine, which we'll replace as soon as we locate one. So his car was all up n running and looking good So will wait untill i can source another 1/2" spacer and once everything is there ready to go will set the pre-loads, get it all back together and fire it up, which will hopefully be next Saturday. Heres a pic with the new shoes on, i know they are old news now, but ive always liked the look of them and i think they look great on the ute, suit it well. They came with Toyo Proxes4 245/35's up front and 265/30's for the rear all with approx 90%. Hopefully the big rears will aid with traction on the street. Apologies for the filthyness of the ute, she's been collecting dust for a while now. Also heres a pic of the engine bay as it has been sitting for the last 2-3weeks. I think the covers look alot nicer and fuel pressure guage sets it off abit. And if anyone has a 1/2" phenolic spacer for the explorer and is willing to part with it, PM me or reply here, need one asap. Jeff

Ahh come off it, 19's all the way. Dont worry the other rims havent gone, i dont think i could bring myself to sell them. Will see what we can do with speed limiter etc, either way it wont get removed all together. I'm keen to see what she makes this time round also, i think it'll make 300rwhp easy but wanna see if i can get a few more ft/lbs or torque throughout the rev range.

Looks good Jeff, but I reckon the old rims looked a helluva lot tougher.
Bust that 300 I say!!! FYI, I went up to BPT this arvo and Barry's there. Jack made a comment that gave me the impression he's on holiday for a few weeks. Not 100% sure if it's the case or not but worth riniging and finding out. If so you can book it in for a tune - a bit of an incentive to get her finished

Better hurry up and get the ute finished and get it down there for a tune then hahahaha.

Well guys, its DONE, she's all back together and running.
Done the last pre-loads this arvo and got it all back together, checked and double checked then fired it up. Brought revs straight to 2500rpm for a few minutes. Alot of ticking was present, but that was obvious as the lifters needed to fill up. Brought back to idle and all sweet, no ticking . Boy am i happy now lol. There is a slight whistling noise at idle so there must be a vacuum leak present somewhere, will get that located and sorted ASAP. Gave it a quick run up and down the street, was like driving it for the first time it'd been that long, and she spun those 265/19's without a worry . So next week it'll be off to the exhaust shop to get the Wideband UEGO sensor fitted to the exhaust to get the AEM finished off. Then will see how soon i can get it in to BPT for a re-tune then it'll be straight back down the strip, woohoo

When i put the 70mm on mine i had a slight whislte, couldnt trace it at all. Turns out the air rushing past the TB at idle causes it. Drilled a 3mm hole in the throttle plate and it went away. Hope that helps

Brett Hmm sounds interesting, might have to give that a looking at. Thanks Brett, you could have saved me alot of time and headaches lol. Will still search for vacuum leak to be sure. Took her out for a drive before, and boy was it good to be back in it. Was running beautifully, pulls very hard all the way to redline as per usual and felt very strong all through the revs. The torque this things makes is amazing. The 265's definately arent as grippy as i expected, hard acceleration is 2nd gear was pushing them to their limits. I have ran into one problem though. The drivers side front caliper is sticking, when i arrived home i was welcomed by a cloud of smoke bellowing from that brake assembly. Made sure there was no fire etc, then just let it sit. Wont be able to look at it today as im flat out with a stereo install on a mates Patrol, so will have a look through next week, might just go for a reco pair of calipers.

My Holly Tb whistled at idle and in park, sounded s**t. Did the same thing as in this link http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/5 ... -high.html and whistle was gone. Could be something else to look at.

That is exactly where mine was coming from as well. First i thought it was an air leak, but using the stethsicope, we traced it to the ISC. so i removed that and it didnt work either, so drilled a hole in the Throttle plate and got rid of most of it, but due to size of my cam and lack of low end response, went back to the 65mm
Will look at cleaning up the 70 and may just put it back on Brett

Alright fixed front drivers side brake today. Just pulled it off, cleaned up slides and bolts, greased them and fitted it all back up, took it out for a drive and all is sweet.
I cant wait to get another tune put through it, it is awesome to drive atm, feels like its got a bit more top end, dont know if its the 70mm t/b or the de-ribbed upper airbox doing it. Will go see Dom @ prestige exhuasts tomorrow and see when he can fit up the wideband sensor, then i'll go see Dave @ A1 for another dose of Royal Purple 10w40, give it abit of a service then see when i can get it tuned. Oh yeah, what fuel pressure do you guys recommend to run, i've got it at about 39psi with vacuum atm.
