Well i've decided to go with the Crane Hi-6 ignition kit.
Ordered with Dave @ A1 today so should hopefully see it by the weekend so it'll give me a nice little job to do to keep me busy.
Went with the Crane HI-6S box (6000-6300), LX91 Coil (730-0891), note this coil is not the direct bolt in one, and then the harness adapter for the ford TFI (6000-6707).
Main reason for doing this was to be able to set my own limiter at the turn of a dial. Will most likely set limiter to about 5800-5900rpm, no need to go any higher.
Will update once its all in.

I've got good news on my front boys. $4000 and alot of hard work and my car should be back on the road by the weekend. Thats the price you pay for incompetence.

My engine will know have forged pistons, 'H' beam rods and ported SVO gt40p heads. So not all lost, the pain will be so much easier to accept if it does a sub 14.0 quarter!!!!

Hey that top line speaks pretty damn loud to everyone here... One of the most profound things I've seen you write.

f**k me.... Forged pistons, H-Beam rods, ported X303 heads... If you stick with a standard cam then it seems like a big waste.

Plenty of combo's are running deep into the 13s (even 12s) with STOCK bottom ends.

Well i picked up the new ignition kit for the ute yesterday. Went with the Crane HI-6S box and the LX91 coil. Also got the Ford TFI adapter harness kit to make the job abit easier.
Now the LX series coils are not a direct bolt in, if you want a bolt in job you have to go the PS series coils. Had a quick look at the coil mount yesterday and it just requires 4 new holes drilled into the std coil bracket to mount the LX coil. The new holes do not interfere with the original holes either so if i ever want to change back to std thats no drama.
Have not found a place to mount the HI-6S yet. Its a very compact unit compared to what i was expecting. I was thinkin something along the lines of the size of the MSD 6AL etc. Still it doesnt make it any easier to find a spot in the windsor engine bay.
Will be having a better look at it today and hopefully have it all hooked up ready to go.
Also got a Ford Racing billet oil cap cover. Gives an added bit of bling to the engine bay  . Make sure your sitting down though when you price one up.

Well its all fitted up and running. But a big PITA is the rev limiter isnt working, the main bloody reason i bought the thing. Had it set at 3500 first and it revved straight past it, then i set it at 4500 and took it for a spin and once again revved straight past it. I hooked it up as per the Crane website instructions, it is pretty damn basic.
I'm going to have another look through it see if i can find any more info.
Other than that low-end throttle response seems really nice under 3000rpm with the multispark feature, top-end feels pretty strong too.
What sort of plug gap do you think i should be running? Using MSD leads and NGK-R plugs, they're gapped to 1.1mm atm.

SteadyED, does your rev limiter function work properly???

It's running on the car so you've wired it right. The limiter works on mine. I take it you turned the right dials for the limit you want?
I run about 1.3mm gap.

Yeah thats what i thought, didnt think it'd be a problem in the wiring.
There are two dials, both going from 0-9. I gathered the left hand one was 0-9000rpm and then the right side was the hundreds 0-900rpm. For example i have my left dial on 4 and my right dial on 5, as in 4500rpm. Am i correct?

I've never bothered setting my rev limiter, sorry mate.
Does the HI-6S have the stage limiter?
