ps yeh thats an awesome deal.

The use of the Platinum shaft mount rockers eliminates the need for hardened pushrods and guideplates.

That sounds pretty reasonable then...$2300 is a good price for AFR165's. How much more where the 1472's?

1472's were $2750 and street terra 2020 pedestal rockers $575, TOTAL $3325
1399's $2300 and YT Platinum rockers $980, TOTAL $3280

Wow...I didn't think there would be that much difference. The 1399's and platinum rockers are a no-brainer then.

This should be a pretty good thing once its all together :)

Yeah mate definately lookin forward to it. Wanted to hopefully have the parts by the end of the week.

With the extra lift from the 1.7 ratio rockers would it be worthwhile to upgrade from the AFR springs?

Ive chosen to run with the 1.7 ratio rockers with the 2040. That bringing valve lift up from .498" to .529".
How will this change the operation of this cam? (i.e, Power range, idle, torque curve etc)
Will it make it alot more like to 2030?

Cheers guys.

will give u bit more power bit less torque?.. the heads dont get much better over 500 lift, so anywhere between that and 550 is a good spot for max lift(ie get it in the meat of the flow so the valve spends more time up there).. my cam is 512 and if i went for 1.7 rockers i would be at 550. for me, the 529 sounds good.

im just figuring that on the principles of horsepower = higher flow potential = lower air speeds = less torque

I cant see why you would end up with any less torque?

While it increases lift significantly, the affect on the valve events should be negligable. So the charactieristics of the cam should be pretty much the same, while allowing significantly more air through the port (due to increase in lift).

It will still be a very different cam to the 2030. Different LSA (110 vs 112), and the Crane has less duration on the intake lobe.

Not sure on valvesprings. Do you know the specs of the springs supplied with the 1399 heads?

Nah mate dont know the exact specs thats why im a bit concerned but i have been told they can handle up to .550" lift.
Cheers for replies mate.

Cheers mate.

xr8falcon its just that it will push the point of 100% volumetric efficiency(and thus max torque) slightly higher up in the rev range, so that at any point below that, you have slightly less torque.. ok its relatively insignificant, but meh i thought id throw it out there anyway..

Quick update guys.
Ran the ute up on the dyno today for a quick power run at MCE in Mindarie and managed a best of 211.2rwhp. Lowest being 209 and one at 210.
Seems abit high for current mods, was expecting about 190?
Wanted to get it done before the motor comes out so i've got something to compare to, also wanted to get it down to the motorplex, but i dont like my chances as my only chance would be next wednesday.
Parts should be here tomorrow hopefully, will post up some quick snap shots when they arrive.
Also Terry at MCE is getting back to me on a price for the exhaust. Looking at going s/steel twin 2 1/4" from cats back (already have hi flow cats), through an x-pipe into a Magnaflow twin in/out muffler, then just straight through twin 2 1/4" pipes all the way to the rear.
Hoping that should be a good setup to work with the rest of the combo, should sound alright and still maintain the low down torque.

What everyones thoughts on clearance issues with what i will be running.
58cc chamber heads, 2040 with 1.7's (v/lift from .498" to .529") and standard pistons.
Either way it will be going in, just wanna be prepared for when Terry makes that dreaded phone call tellin me my pistons will have to be notched for clearance.
Cheers guys

My thoughts are... "at the end of the day, it will all be worth it" :)
