well what can i say..... for anyone looking to do this mod... BUY A EL AND DITCH YOUR OLD CAR.... lol na it wasnt that bad...

we build the motor before touching my car at all... that was the first mistake, as i used a dizzy which was only used for a month or so. assumed it would be the best of the 3 i had... but nope once we got everything in the car we find out it was stuffed... it took us 2 days from 10am friday to 12:30am this morning to get it all done. but in the end its well worth it. oh and i forgot to mention we were at the wreckers till almost 1pm yesterday as wreckers dont know the meaning to working quick...

issues still to sort out:
motor hunting - to be expected
BBM switch (currently have it switched to long runners for low torque)
new radiator as this one is leaking (not impressed)

but she runs and drives very well...

ok here is some progress pics. ill try and keep them in order

that would be correct... it is a hybrid motor. runs great, tho i think i need the EL ticky ECU to unlock the potential the motor has

Yes, going by my experiences and Troymans, you will notice quite a difference.

well went past the wreckers today and seen that they had a neat looking EF there, upon opening the bonnet i see a perfect condition intake setup... so i asked the guy how much it was.. thinking he spoke to me the other day (mistook it with other bits i got) he said $22.. so i got myself a lil bargain

Image

its a shame there wasnt any tickford ones there, but still its an EF intake. i also put in an AU Tickford snorkel i had laying around at home. ill get updated pics tomorrow

well i just got back from the wreckers again... (seems to be my new home) and i picked up the rest of the intake as i found out that the EF intake pipe wont fit into the EL airbox lid, so now i have the lid which apparently has better air flow as it sucks from the middle of the filter... i also scored the EF belt and power steering pump cover... it still needs a clean but it will be going on today. scored it all plus all the mounts and airbox clips for 15 bucks

well i took 20 minutes time out and fitted the new intake (had to move a few bits to make it fit - NC loom runs across the top of the engine bay where as so does the intake so i had to move the loom down)

i also used some interior cleaner on the parts followed by mequires tyre shine... i think it came up tops!!!

before and after then some larger shots of the bay

Hey Huggie

Looks good. The EF intake is said to be better than the standard EL one so you should be better off.

Going strong I hope.
