Another top job Huggie :) Those wheel arch moulds look great. I wish I could find a set :(
Keep up with the chrome look mate, not enough of it these days IMO. Also, do the colourcoding on the bumpers and side moulds, makes a big difference. Mine are colour coded and another NC running around here has the standard, the colour matching does wonders to the look of the car. My 2 cents

well im sick of seeing my fuel dissapear from my tank... before the motor swap i got 600+ k's from a tank, but since the swap i got 550 from a tank. thinking its the bigger injectors, fuel pressure regulator and bbm thats doing the issues along with the NC tune i noticed today i have 90k's left in the tank and only just reached 400k's from the tank. so i got my act together and bought a smartlock bypass so i can add the tickford ECU so hopefully i can get my fuel economy back. it should arrive hopefully be the end of the week. if it does it will be installed over the weekend and i will hook up the BBM switch and then maybe the thermo fans if i can work out how to add/remove ECU pins.

small update, i got myself a smartlock bypass on ebay last week, installed it in 5 minutes and put the EL ticky ECU in, straight off the hunting dissapeared but i noticed it now holds the rpm longer, the old ecu revved then dropped straight back to idle, now it slowly drops the revs back down.. not really happy with that but oh well...

tomorrow i start my new job so when i get home i will be wireing up the BBM switch... at the moment its still ziptied to long runners... tho even like this i owned an AU fairmont on the highway yesterday BIG TIME!!! i was stoked and had adrenaline shakes lol

well today was a bunch of fun... went for a drive up mt mee, went well untill the return trip... the car started coughing and spluttering upon acceleration... a few k's later the radiator light came on with the trip computer going nuts... i pulled up at the first tap i seen and poped the bonnet only to see a puddle of coolent on the passinger side. i couldnt see where it was coming from so i filled her back up with tap water and filled up a container with water and set off home pulling over again when the header tank dried up again. there was no back pressure or hissing when i opened the cap so it was a good sign. apon getting to my mates place and removing the belt cover i could see exactly what was going on. the gasket on the thermostat housing s**t itself due to the pressure in the system since fitting a thermostat, it made its way up ontop of the intake manifold join and was leaking inside... how did it get inside i hear you ask?? well while the motor was getting rebuilt some idiot forgot to install a manifold gasket :S dont ask me how everyone missed it but somehow it happened. it actually shouldnt have run but somehow did. i even kept side by side with a V8 statesman like this. so we pulled it all apart and placed in a new gasket and sealed it all back up. it now runs smoother and has that extra torque when you give it a boot off the line. it also pulls well into 120kph in 2nd on the highway in drive... now... where did that statesman go??? *goes hunting*

the BBM switch will be installed tomorrow.

well after some mucking about on the highway with my mate in his AU i realised i really needed to hook up the BBM switch as id pull away up untill 3800rpm or there abouts which is when my car would keep revving but not make any more power or speed untill i hit the next gear which id then start to catch up. so i bit the bulled and pulled the complete BBM hose setup from the EL wreck, blocked off the 1 hoses that wasnt needed, ran new wires to the ECU, added the extra ECU pin connected it all up, cut the zip tie off the BBM and started the car to find it done nothing... after looking over everything, checking ECU diagrams/pinout diagrams we knew it was all correct but still couldnt work it out, we removed the hose from the bbm switch and there was no vaccum so we knew we had stumbled onto something,

stuped i gave BenJ a call to ask for advice. he said to simply recheck everything so after runing back through the lines checking for vaccum we ended up at the plug/join in the lines where we looked inside the plug to see a mud wasp nest.. how it got there i dont know, so i swapped it with my spare one and replaced it all and still nothing. we scratched out heads for a bit when i decided to remove the whole setup and check every line where i came across yet another line blocked. instead of cleaning them out i just swapped them with the spares i had beside me, so in the end i made sure every hose was clean and free from obstruction, placed it back on the car and started the motor to see the bbm switch spring into action... i revved her up and the switch dropped. SUCCESS!!!

i took her for a spin and i cant believe the power it makes now, just seems to pull away when your cruising and you hit that sweet spot :D

so now im really happy apart from changing over the radiator, header tank and window washer bottle the motor is now complete and running sweet.

the next mod is to find another stereo surround and mount the dvd player, flip out screen and roof mounted screen to keep the misses and lil ones happy. tho rego is due in 2-3 weeks so once thats sorted ill strap on some new tyres once i do the front shocks sometime in the next week.

i currently have a huge list of "to do's" but soo little time to do them.

Time and money would be well spent on the XP I reckon! :?

sad to see it sitting there collecting dust and rust. :(

You could buy 20 NC with that XP if you spent $5000 on it and then sell it, even if it was just half finished! LOL

a bit of an update.

the girl upstairs decided she would kindly reverse into my car... remoulding my bumper for me and kindly giving my headlight some cold air induction... so a few hours spent getting the bumper brackets and what not back into place, sits a little low but i can atleast close my bonnet now. i have tracked down a new headlight but due to cash issues it might be a while before i can buy it.

on to good news. gave the car a wash and took some cool black and white photos.

also this next bit gets me excited... scored this off ebay really cheap. almost pocket change.
Image

no its not drugs.... here is a closer detail pic to give it away
Image

if you cant tell by the last pic ill fill you in. its pearl... green to blue pearl, 200g worth. aparently 50g is enough to do a car... i asked for 2 lots and he kindly sent me double what i paid for. the guy bought a heap off a painter to paint business cars or something and never ended up painting them so he is selling it off. soo soon when my cash flow is a little better it will be getting a full respray aswell as removing all the dents and scratches.

i have also fitted a new radiator (well 1 year old. looks new) from my EL wreck. coming soon will be the modified console and carpet (will fit perfect as the EL is a wagon :) ) and im off to a mates tonight to fix a water leak (thermostat housing) as im going through about 3-4 liters a day in water

more updates shortly

hey all. new updates :D

its all good news.

new headlights. with huge thanks to chris i drove down the southside and picked them up today and fitted it with no issues. no more broken glass and i now have parkers again :)

while stripping the EL wagon more i noticed a few good bits that will be making its way into my car in the next few weeks. apart from the front shocks there is a full nolathane front end kit (unsure on rear but its a wagon anyways) and some RED STUFF (aka green stuff - red version) brake pads... also the carpet is getting removed tomorrow ready to be cleaned to go in the lane.

another good thing is while i was in autobarn getting some RCA cables that were marked to clear :P i mentioned to an old school mate that i was running s**t 14" hotwires and he offered a swap for some 17" territory rims with good tyres... soo as soon as he rings me we are doing the trade.

also on the way is a new monoblock amp to hopefully give my subs a bit more punch.

more mods and pics soon...
