well where to start... i blew up my gearbox about 3 weeks ago... every gear including reverse and part went forwards... so we ripped her out and threw in the gearbox from the old red wagon and a 2400 rpm stallie... she now spins off the line rather nicely :D makes it very fun to drive in the wet and with the shiftkit on...

the car has been in for a new steering rack, wheel alignment and brake flush so the behaves alot better, tho the company that done my brakes didnt bleed the ABS so it no longer works... but the car stops still so im happy..

still searching for some mags and still trying to sell the T5 kit so i can send money to striker.

went for a cruise the other day as it was my daughters birthday and havnt seen her in over 12 months so i was upset and needed to get away.. and what a view to empty your mind from all stress...

it is a build thread, not a look im rich this is whats been done to this completed car.

cars are money pits, everyone knows that, its all about those who appreciate the time and effort put into cars that makes it worth it..

thats f**k dude

the law is certainly f**k here. Its not a wonder why some men are driven to do something 'stupid' and spend a couple years in jail, rather than be forced to move out of their own house and pay years of rent, lawyers fees, constant stress, maintance, lose their kids, lose 50% of property, and live through years of court battles.

and in the end its the kids that feel the effect the most

have you found the shims you need for the regrind install yet then?!

I got my shims from Pick_A_Part for free.... Just go pull off a rocker cover and help yourself...

Grab a couple of lifters whilst you're there in case one end up in the sump

Keep at it with the child... It's like hitting your head on a brick wall for ages, but sooner or later people start to see that the X is actually full of s**t and you may have a point or two...

And hey - Most of us know about "long threads, getting nowhere apart from loosing money". There was that guy a while ago who came along and pronounced loudly he had $20,000+ to spend on getting his EF Mont worked... What happened to his long and interesting build thread? NOTHING. He probably gave the car to someone, who returned it.

His build thread would be "gave car to so and so with $25,000 cash. Got car back. WOW. See the photos that I paid to have taken... Cheers guys."

Yawn.

Us guys who struggle to find enough dollars for blue paint appreciate the effort!

well dont i have an update for you all... since july there has been some bad updates...

installed the 1636 with shims - MAJOR ticking noise so i put in EL rockergear (used EB first) and the bloody cam seized up, spitting out the lug for the car gear, snapping rocker arms, bending valves (5 total) and cracking the cam cog... in the end, tickford motor f**k!!!

motor cam out a week later... prepared a EF motor ready to go in.

installed the stallie to the motor and proceeded to attach the gearbox (MISTAKE NUMBER 1!!!!!) PUT STALLIE INTO GEARBOX FIRST!!!!!

i somehow got the gearbox on the motor without the stallie lined up into the gearbox = 1 f**k BTR and bent locating pins on stallie...

dropped the motor and box into the fairlane only to realise i have the wrong engine mounts!!! so a hunt to the wreckers and i pick up a set of brackets and bought new mounts... BRACKETS DONT FIT!!! looks like the wrecker sold me XF ones (bloody scum)

as im scratching my head as to why the mounts dont fit someone pulls up at my house and said he is stripping an EA if i need any parts, so off i trot and remove the engine mount brackets and you wouldnt believe... they fit!!! so i drop in the motor and proceed to connect everything up

go to turn the key and it doesnt move... (insert swearing - this is where we realise the stallie wasnt in correctly) so out comes the box as we fix everything... turns out i f**k the gearbox royal... so a quick trip to fiery's house lands us a spare gearbox which we throw in... beauty its all working for us my run of bad luck is gone...

boy was i wrong, no sooner had i poured 4 litres of brand new $40 oil into the gearbox we look down to see a MASSIVE puddle under the car WTF!!!!!

my mate jacks the car up and yells, there is no gasket i can see straight inside!!!!

i wasnt informed but whoever gave the gearbox to fiery decided to undo 1 bolt and push the gasket inside to drain the oil... NOT HAPPY!!! so a mad rush to exchange pans from old gearbox (thought there was no gasket at all) we managed to save a whole half a litre of oil

another $40 of oil from repco and we complete the install... time to turn the key... wind wind wind nothing... *snif snif* is that fuel??? my mate installed the fuel lines backwards... easy fix... ok here we go... wind wind wind *backfire* HUH???

after sleeping on it thinking.. fuel spark timing all there... WTF is going on... we get there and go.. hey i know we got TDC.. but what if it was on the wrong rotation??? a quick dash to swap leads 1-6, 2-5, 3-4 and turn the key with crossed fingers.... SHE STARTS!!! and purrs like a kitten...

we both look at each other and think why didnt we think of this before? but we are both relieved that it runs

so after a very long 3 months she is finally running again. no rego left but she runs lol

and i finally got off my a** and got my green P's and upon reading the QT website i discover i only have restrictions until june 1st of next year (my birthday when i turn 25) so the plans to undergo a turbo install are happening, i have some parts sourced ready to go, just need to find a T04/E/Z and some oil lines etc

i spoke to revengelane (matt) and i took his advice on doing a 3 stage build, another words
step one: get the car running on boost - basic setup
T04
log style manifold (250 on ebay)
late V8 injectors (24pound)
J3 chip
600 wide intercooler (150 on ebay)
bosch 044 fuel pump
second hand intercooler piping (already sourced)
catch can, fuel reg etc

i need to find someone who will tune the J3 chip, im not expecting much first up, but id be happy with 200kw at the wheels, sure i might need bigger injectors etc but im sure i can learn from this as i go along.

once i have the first stage done ill think about stage 2, my end goal is to beat my brothers 290kw GT-P which should be easier with the lighter fairlane and boost

i will be keeping the auto with 2400 stall however i have been offered a worked auto for it (needs repair but quoted 300 for repairs)

i have thought about the diff and i think for now ill keep the LSD, maybe when stage 2 comes along i might look at a kaaz diff setup

also i was looking in the for sale sections and i came across an ad for some 'burnout rims' and seen a set of nice looking CSA's in 15" but AU offset... and for $50 i couldnt resist as he lived about 300m from my house, so i picked them up this morning so the hunt is on for some hub adaptors.

sorry for the long update but i havnt had the net for a while so i couldnt update it.
