That setup sounds like it will be a lot of fun indeed! Can't wait to see some pics.

Also, it's great news you have a job man. I'm still having the fun of job hunting...

Cheers

That's not too bad at all. I'd love that sort of cash atm. I'd work 12 out of 13 days to get good money, hell, i worked 7 days a week for 2 years while studying full time as well. (except xmas day, new years day & boxing day.)

Cheers

well i done aprox 5-6 hours a day, and end up with close to 1500 in my pocket after 2 weeks work. not great money but for the hours i have worked im not complaining. weekend rate is 28 per hour, with 6 hour shifts. then add that to the centerlink payments i still get (i love working credits) and im pretty happy at the moment. i have the next 2 days off so im happy about that. but im back for the weekend again. well apart from sunday as i finally get to see my daughter after 2 years of not even a phone call or picture...

thats a pretty bold statement, i cant see how a reground cam is to blame....... they dont seize up on their own

i'd say whatever the reason for the fault was, it had nothing to do with the cam, its something you did wrong

well no one could work out what exactly went wrong, but in the end it was because i installed a regrind cam that things went bad.

obviously something went wrong, but what ever the reason its done and im going to stay away from regrinds

because i cant stop changing my mind on things, i have dumped the aupercharger idea for now...

i considered the cost of the kits. 4500+ for the supercharger kit.
injectors $300 (will need bigger then V8)
J3 $90-120
walbro fuel pump $150 on ebay
fuel pressure reg $whatever it is on ebay
so im looking over 5 grand for the supercharger kit.

turbo kit:
rebuilt turbo and AIT manifold with oil lines and head studs for manifold $1300
intercooler piping $50 (pick it up on the weekend)
intercooler $120 on ebay
walbro fuel pump $150 on ebay
V8 injectors $free - pocket from wrecker
J3 $90-120
fuel pressure reg $whatever it is on ebay lol havnt looked this up yet as i may not need one with the 300kpa fuel reg for now
aprox $1800

so a big difference between the 2.

so i have opted for the AIT turbo kit as i can keep my current exhaust as it bolts directly up to the flange on the stock cat.
i have spoken to revengelane about this kit and he mentioned his brother bolting up a BF XR6T GT34/40 turbo up to his AIT manifold as they are T3 flange still. and geoff at snort said with the right parts and a good tune this kit as it is, is good enough for a 13 second pass. which ill be stoked with.

i have paid for most of the turbo kit already and pay for the rest in just over a week. so in about 2-3 weeks it should be in my hot little hands. i was putting off making this update untill i had it bolted to the car but i cant keep secrets lol.

also with the turbo kit, i can keep everything stock and just bolt the turbo to the motor and off i go and make some good power, but i have done some research about these kits and from what i have read, 260rwkw seems to be the max they make in stock form as the injectors, fuel pump and ECU max out. but the V8 injectors, walbro fuel pump and a J3 should open it up to a lot more power and smoother torque curve.

as for the tune, i have a mate who lives around the corner who has a EF turbo with a J3 which is pretty impressive and he tuned it himself, so first up he has offered to tune it for me and later down the track when i upgrade bits ill pay for a good tune from revengelanes tuner (was told he was really good but $$$)

this is what the kt will look like on the car. however i wont have the airbox or old looking bits lol

this pic i stole from malakai from his for sale thread on his old setup, shows how it bolts to the factory exhaust.
Image

but in news of the fairlane itself, i had to extend the alternator wire but after seeing how ford tap 3-4 other wires into the 1 wire i decided to add a distroblock after the joins and just extend it that way. much neater looking

Image
Image
apart from that i bolted 2 FTR's up to the car as it was already up in the air
Image

thats all for now

today i mounted up the tranny cooler and had think about the power steer cooler (using a small EF/EL tranny cooler)

i have to wait and see where the intercooler piping will run before i mount it as i want it near the drivers side vent in the front bar. it looks like a good air feed which will be the perfect size

looking at the bumper and mounts im going to have to cut something. i dont really want the cooler hanging out the bottom so i might end up mounting the cooler a little higher and running the pipes under the soon to be modified bumper brackets then around the ABS unit etc.

id love to mount the cooler up high so i can use the full LTD grill to direct air through the cooler but to do that ill have to make up a system to pop the bonnet, i was looking at my brothers 06/07 fiesta and they have a tab that pokes out once you pop the bonnet the first time and you just grab it and pull. i might rig up something like that.

here are some pics of the brackets and space

i also tried to work out where to mount the coil pack. cant go on the drivers side due to turbo heat etc.
thoughts anyone?
sideways

weird angle

airbox area - will look messy tho

i also tested the new trims. awaiting new door handle rods so i can permanently mount the trims

cheers ben, im also looking at cutting up my indicators and fitting a LED panel as the indicator, and running the intercooler piping up past it and through the hole thats there factory. saves me cutting holes in the body. and if i use silicone hose past the indicators i wont have to worry about the plastic melting

Sounds like a good idea - it's looking good, glad to hear about the job too, I was without one early in the year too , it really blows.

How's the airbox spot look with the airbox installed?

I can't believe how much space there is just behind the bumper for a fmic!

Cheers
