oh im a long way from what i want lol. but when i bought the car i wanted it turbo and on 18" wires. so im on my way tho lol. only downside is that the turbo setup is cheaper then the wire wheels :(

You & me both mate. But that's no reason to stop working towards what we want, is it?

Sure I'm a long way off what i want, but if i listed in bullet point all that i have achieved along the path thus far, it would bore the hell out of a lot of people lol! Something i have found that along the way, i have had to stop & learn how to do certain jobs, or use certain tools. I have also had to save up & buy tools that i didn't have so that i can do jobs. That really slows down projects......

Cheers

yeah i know the feeling, im up for a pipe flaring tool, cheap ones as low as $12 at supercheap and half decent ones are $50 but i need it to do the tranny lines and possibly brake lines as i found where the joins are so it should be easy to convert the ABS unit this way

I've got a cheap pipe flaring tool, i did the brake lines on my tandem trailer & the lines on my caravan with it, no leakage issues. ;)

It's one of many tools i've bought to do one or two jobs that who know's how long it will be before i use it again? I've also had to buy a couple of tool chests (kingchrome 6 draw & 3 draw stack(expensive ball bearing slides, will last a longtime), and a supatool 6 draw as well(cheapy) to hold all the tools, and i still need more draws lol.

Cheers

im getting that way, i used to borrow tools off mates but i find that when you do that they basically call you daily to see when they are getting them back. even had one person i know which im not allowed to mention the name of due to him having a sook about other things i have recently posted, he left his tools at my parents place, then came around while i wasnt there went through all my tools and took his back but left one there and then threatened court action if i didnt give it back.. well i didnt borrow it, i didnt touch it, he left it there and it was there along time so it wouldnt have held up in court, if i said i didnt have it they couldnt do anything. but me being nice i had it returned tho i should have sold it to recoup my losses on the dodgy motor.

opps i may have said too much

Remember for brake lines you need a double flaring tool , not a single like you normally use for transmission lines etc.

Mine is a cheap double flare kit, and i have found no issues with the lines leaking on my trailer or caravan.

I found this online that might help...

minor update, i have no finished the wiper/indicator assembly conversion, NC casing with EF arms and wiring, i also removed the ignition lock and installed with smartlock one but changed the barrels over so i still have matching keys.

then at 4pm i picked up this.
Image

EF/EL 3.08 single spinner diff... plan is to take measurements, grind the handbrake brackets off and fit the brackets and brake setup to my 3.23 LSD saving myself a few hundred bucks over buying a 3.45 LSD from a EF XR/NF Lane.

but when i got home i seen this
Image
compared to this side
Image

nothing major but looks like its had a leak. so new soft brake lines and caliper kits put through them and i should have any issues.

Looks more like a bearing seal that has gone instead of a brake leak.

Gotta agree with that, Ive had my ZD Fairlane since 1983 rebuilt it once, two resprays, but it's been off the road for near 20yrs,accidents, blown engines, marriage, house, family, extensions, new kitchen, holidays, bathrooms etc..... but I still got her and I am slowly getting bits together for a new engine after blowing up the $7,500 351-C before getting it on the road, but hey patience my friends, patience!

finally got some time off work to do some stuff on the lane, modified a spare orange indicator
Image
i will be fitting 3 runs of amber LED strips 24cm long and silicone it in place, then spray the back of the lens black to give it the smoked look and will light up good when the indicator is on.

it also leaves me HEAPS of room for the intercooler piping.. i could easily fit 3" pipe through there. ill be using a silicone bend so that there wont be any rattles down there.
Image

and when its in place it will look factory
Image

i also fitted the new EF/EL door handle rods to the rear door, i need to drill a few holes for the handle and grab handle to screw into the door skin then i can re-fit the door trim. i kinda wish i has woodgrain now lol. i sort of miss it.
Image

i also got some gauges from my brother, nothing special but they are useful. im thinking of putting them just under where they are sitting, if not in the console... i dunno

Image

im also getting sick of not having the interior in there, so im cutting up the factory NC carpet and just going to fit the console and put the piece of EL carpet i have over the top for now just so i can finish the inside of the car off. but i have to run a few sets of RCA's first.

more updates soon.

Um.... Isnt that Air Conditioning unit meant to be digital? and a trip computer? or is this from a futura?

It will look good for a Fairlane though, a fairlane with futura dash
