Hmmm good call. I prefer the earlier Climate (NC/EB) over the Later EF Stuff anyway

I'm with you there on that one. I love my climate control, when it's working 100%, it's great. I find it hard to stand being in car's without it these days. Once you have luxary it's hard to go back.....

Cheers

not much to update, turbo kit is essentially paid off (will be within 24 hours anyways)

i did get a PM from geoff at snort, bad news, the AIT manifold has been welded up a heap and wont take long to break.. so because geoff is an awesome bloke he is making me a brand new manifold and dump pipe (unless the old one fits)

so essentially i have a snort stage 1 kit.

i have 2 doors completed with the EF trims and handles but work has been soo full on i havnt had time to even scratch my a**.

finally received my boost gauge from ebay... 23 days in post = bad feedback.

i will be keeping the indicator mod, but i will do it with my clear indicators, but practice on the amber ones

still need ANY EF/EL carpet so i can make a 2 piece carpet for now...

im working full on hours for the next few days but then i get some time off so i should be able to get some more done.

i not long ago sold a brand new calibre boost gauge for $30 and it was in the for sale section and i also have a oil pressure and water temp gauge and they are both calibre gauges.

good new on the new manifold and dump pipe

the blinker mod will look awesome with the clear indicators, i put clear indicators on the wagon yesterday afternoon and they look so much better

keep up the good work

cheers bear

not much to update, car is still sitting there, i did manage to get 2 doors wired up and complete
Image
Image

i also picked up a battery switch, i thought id prefer to have emergency personal pull the plug out rather then cut wires if i was to end up in an accident
Image
also good security system when leaving it in a dodgy area at night

i also bought some stuff to modify the radiator, it now goes directly out, might have been easier to grab a EBII ED radiator but this was cheaper lol. and i was told the radiator hoses are different size?
Image

if it leaks ill go to bunnings and get a piece of 25mm inside diameter pipe and some plumbers glue and put a sleeve on it. i now need to chop up a few hoses so i can make it run as close to the body as possible.

turbo kit has been paid for but there was an issue, when geoff went to get it out of storage to post it he noticed that the manifold has been welded many many times and he didnt think it would last, so he has made me a brand new manifold, im not sure about the dump pipe, he did say he would make one to suit but im not sure if the factory AIT one would fit or not. we will see soon enough.

boost gauge finally arrived after 23 days in post, just need to work out a good place to mount it.

more updates shortly when the turbo kit arrives

Cool update man. Keep at it, every little bit you get done puts you closer to having it finished. I like the battery isolation switch, just make sure it's labeled so they just pull it instead of cutting cables.

I thought the only difference in EB to EL radiator hoses was their shape, not their size? Wouldn't it have been better to change the end tank to the one you need?

Cheers

There are two differences with the EF-EL radiator compared to the EA-ED items.

The lower radiator hose is smaller on the EF-EL, and the side entry from the bottom of the overflow bottle is a right angle on the EF-EL and straight on the EA-ED.

Cheers

Oh, the bottom hose is smaller. Didn't know that. I knew the shape difference for the header tank outlet on the radiator, found that out the hard way with a mate, when his EF radiator died & we tried to fit a EB radiator i had spare. lol.

Cheers

well the rain p****d off so i got the tools off the floor, gave it a vac, ran some new RCA's threw in the NC carpet, console (colour matched this time) and front seats, but stupid me put the seat rails on the wrong sides so i couldnt actually bolt them in. it feels good to look inside at a almost complete interior.

still need to re-fit the loom joiner plug thing as it wouldnt fit the way i had it before and im not pulling the dash back out just to hold it up, so a zip tie will do the job there.
fit the hand brake setup. need someone with a welder...
do up the fuel lines and transmission lines, change the oil and filter AFTER i drill the turbo return line
wire up the tail lights
complete the passenger side doors
and finish doing the radiator setup.
once i do the last 3 things i can start the car and with any luck it will run lol

im also trying to work out the best place for the gauges that wont look too d**k.

i thought about putting them under where the headunit will sit
Image
or move the boost gauge higher and put 2 gauges in a holder down the bottom
Image

i would do more but i have to head off to work tonight. ill most likely get the seats finished tomorrow

well after my 2:30am arrive home from work i slept most of the day away, but i did manage to get up and get some painting done. i mounted the power steering cooler (which is an EF transmission cooler but is small enough to do the job with the power steering) i ran the new hoses to where needed and tried to keep it as far away from the turbo area as possible without kinking the lines.
Image
Image

i also painted the front of the radiator and coolers as some paint was chipped off and made it look dated.
Image

i also decided to do the belt cover as i didnt like the look of the molded plastic look. same colour but looks much better IMO.
Image

over the weekend ill also be removing the thermo fans again and giving the casing a paint, aswell as the header tank (but will leave a section so you can see the coolant level)

i also hooked up the hose for the header tank, i need to trim a bit more off the end of the hose but apart from that it hugs the body nicely and should keep out of view.
