transmission lines, im bypassing the radiator and going straight to the tranny cooler on the front. thats why i mounted it on the passenger side, saves pipes running across the front of the motor around the front then to the cooler, this way it comes from the box, heads straight to the front and into the cooler

well the motor is almost ready to fire up. still no turbo setup, geoff said he would post it off monday but nothing has arrived as of yet.

i hooked up the tranny lines, and ran hoses to the cooler, hooked up the heater hoses, fuel lines and threw in the 19lb V8 injectors (i will get good injectors one day soon)

all the cooling system is all connected up and ready for fluids. i fixed the high beam issue which ended up being a dodgy and very cheap feeling/looking 5 pin relay, swapped it over and problem solved.

on thursday i headed down to wacol wreckers with my voucher $49 all you can carry, picked up some parts for my lasers, 3 tranny coolers and a camshaft. the reason i grabbed the camshaft was because it was sitting out of the motor as the head was missing, but upon looking at the cam (i dont know why i did but i thought why not) i read it was a 94DA cam, but when i looked at the back there is some stamping R418 stamped on it. anyone have any idea what it is? normally its only regrinds that have them stamped like that.

while i was mucking around with the relays i moved one side of the relay block to make it a little more user friendly lol

i was scoring the forums and came across a member selling some fairlane panels, and he mentioned that he listed them all on ebay, well a few days later i won 2 of the 3 items i wanted, but upon asking him he had another LTD bumper, so in total i scored the bumper, bonnet and boot lid (with LTD badge) for $60 :D

so ill paint them up and install them onto the fairlane.

when i was finished for the day i stood back and had a look, id love to find some fairlane or LTD rims and fit them with really wide tyres and have the sleeper look just for fun.

tomorrow after work i pick up my intercooler and i will begin fitting it up. i also have some piping lined up and i picked up the intercooler joiners on thursday. so hopefully wont be long now.

I am pleased to see that the headlight issue was an easy fix.

Everything seems to be coming together really well Huggie.

Cheers

Nice work dude, and an interesting score on the cam! Google didn't turn anything of use up for me. I wonder what it means, the R148?

Cheers

Nice work so far man, I have to get me a Fairlane/LTD again. Not so sure about the bonnet vents though, i didnt read the whole thread are they functional?

Next thing id do for the overall look of the car is colour code your bumpers and side mouldings, then spray the plastics around your windows black, the black part of your mirrors etc, really brings the whole look of the car up a notch or two, worked a treat with my old fairlane's.

Wheels will be the last thing to come off the LTD of mine (for obvious reasons  ) besides the diff. I think the swiss cheese LTD rims are relatively undamaged, I can rip the tyres off them and sell you just the bare rims with caps (will save cost on postage  ) probably only want a couple of hundgie for them, depending on the quality and if there is a fifth wheel in the boot :D Food for thought!

yes the vents were put in for a purpose, i had excessive engine bay heat and in the middle of winter would make your legs sweat. turns out it was the cat of all things lol.

the reason i picked up the new bonnet was so i could remove the vents. as you notice on the LTD rear bar i got its colour coded so the whole thing will be done, the front will also be done the same way when i find a LTD or series 3 NC front bumper.

i already have plans for painting the window surrounds black, just havnt had the time yet lol

thanks mick, ill keep that in mind ;)

didnt get much done today as i had my daughter at my house for the first time in years so priority wasnt the car, but i did manage to chop the crap out of everything to make the cooler fit...

the chop list consists of:
LTD grill - the 2 middle brackets were removed completely the 2 outer were customized lol
headlight trims - the colour coded pieces that sit under the headlight and indicators
part of the passenger side headlight (due to loom, it fitted before but now that there is a tranny hose there also there was no room)
bonnet latch system, its only a rough chop now but ill fix it up over the next few days...

for now i have a spare bonnet release cable hooked up to the latch to open the bonnet, which in time will be modified to be the full working setup.

altho the bumper isnt attached correctly and is actually twisted you can still see that the bonnet wont close like i had hoped
Image
Image

once i done some modding i got it to JUST squeeze between the headlights.. still a tight fit but im going to mod the inside of the bumper so i can drop it another half an inch
Image
Image

sleeper?
Image

tomorrow im going to make some holes in the bumper bracket to allow the piping to pass through it, and as the brackets are fully removable on the fairlanes im going to take them to a mate and get him to make them a little stronger just in-case i decide to nudge anything.
Image

so thats basically where im up to, according to geoff at snort my turbo kit was posted last monday so it should be here first thing tomorrow :D i cant wait to see the kit in the engine bay, it looks soo empty

Hopefully your kit turns up tommorow mate, nothing worse than waiting around for parts to arrive.
I'm on the road this week for work, so hopefully you can give me an update each day as I should have wifi in most of the motels I'll be staying at.
Getting close now
