unless your running a intercooler 200 high you will need to modify something, with the falcon the bumper drops below the bottom radiator support panel and is forward more, the fairlane bumpers actually finish at the bottom radiator support panel and actually touches it. my intercooler is actually sitting on the bumper with no brackets so that shows how little height there is. plenty of back and forward space tho lol

it took me quite a few hours but i finally got the intercooler mounted. the brackets i used are old shelf brackets and were bloody strong.. took the grinder about 3 times as long as it normally would to get through it and i went through a new drill bit every hole drilled. apart from the car body, the single bit went through that quick as anything lol. i dont think the cooler is going anywhere lol.

the cooler ended up being a mounted lower then i wanted purely because i can now use a factory bonnet release mechanism instead of running the cable through to the wheel arch.

also mounting it higher would mean cutting pretty much ALL the bumper mount out which i wanted to avoid.

i cut away some of the bumper insert to help mount the cooler lower, also allows a little air flow to the cooler.

then i was toying with the idea of more air flow which will mean the moving of the numberplate...

thoughts?

i also thought about 2 rectangle "sub box ports" to mount in the bumper beside the numberplate with a 45 degree bend to direct air infront of the cooler.. OR 2 big 3-4" chrome round ports and mount them where the numberplate is... i dont know...

the other way i thought about mounting it was upside down which looked cool, but again the mounts would have to be completely removed or remade to suit. which wasnt going to happen

well after alot of stuffing around and head bashing and not to mention raw fuel in my eye and across my face it finally runs :D

what went wrong? NFI.. how i fixed it? like this
Image

bypassed the brown and green relays and also ran the fuel pump straight off the battery, if you just jump 1 relay nothing happens, but the second you jump all 3 parts it runs and starts perfectly.. im thinking its the BCM, so ill pick one up some time this week.

i have ordered the last of my silicon joiners and should be here pretty soon, i have my F6 Typhoon injectors coming and a bosch 937 fuel pump, or something like that which is good for 550HP which should be good for now, if i need more later on it can be the lift pump :D

i still need to sort out the ECU side of things. i was told a EMS is the way to go

here is a short vid of the motor running.. exhaust manifold, no cat.. sounds awesome

i have no idea on model numbers yet, but the mate that dropped past today (mechanic and auto electrician) uses an EMS on his EF Turbo so since he done all his wiring i figure he can wire mine up too :P

I'll be using a haltech E8 with 6 LS1 coils, would of preferred an EMS 6860 (there pretty much made for falcons and commodores) but for the price I'm not complaining.

a quick squiz on ebay shows both the EMS and the haltech are about 1600 new from the US.. something i not prepared to spend right now, a J3 will have to do for now to get it running then after christmas ill go full aftermarket ECU unless one comes up for under 800 lol

a question for you all, will this piggy back unit be ok? obviously i need to keep the stock ECU for transmission control unless i go a 3 speed or C4/10
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AEM-FIC- ... ccessories

hopefully something like this will do the job

I picked up my haltech for $400, keep an eye out on ricer forums like nissan silvia, those guys like to go back to the stock ecu so they can have a cool hand controller

yea the ems ecu;s are pretty easy to wire up, and you can use the factory ,ait, water and crank sensors, narrow or wideband 02, idle speed controler and bbm or vct..

the ems has, antilag, launch control, nos function, 2 stage rev limiter,
and via a lap top you can adjust everything,(as with all aftermarket ecu's of a***) you can save the tune files, modify the tune on the fly, play with setting, data log, ect

there is this, might be a bit out of your price range though??

yeah a bit much for now. maybe next year.. might find one second hand.. i guess the J3 will do the job for now. tho im not going to RDP for a tune.. i asked them a price and they replied "whats a J3 chip?"

WTF.. only the most commonly used E-series chip now days, for forced and N/A cars.. well he lost my business.. and then he tried to sell me a chip and tune for $1600-$1800... yeah right.. i have been quoted elsewhere around 5-600 for a tune, im not paying 1000-1200 for a chip which does the same thing a J3 does
