not too much to report at the moment. work has been full on this week and with the drenching we have had the last 3 weeks has put everyone off going out doors...

but we have had 3 great days lately but due to work i havnt had time to do anything lol.

i did however get my AU motor delivered. looks to be in great condition externally, however i was told that it blew white smoke.. im not worried as its getting a full rebuild.

plans for the motor are:
shot peened crank and rods
fully ported head
stronger springs (most likely crow cams)
Wade 977B (AU equivalent) billet cam (not going regrind)
and ACL race series rings and gaskets.

nothing overboard but strong enough to handle a bit of power. now im not 100% on all the technical mumbo jumbo with the engine work so if something doesnt seem right feel free to let me know.

i also changed my boost gauge from yellowy bulb to a white LED so now with the light off its white/silver with blue writing and the same but more vivid blue when the lights on instead of an ugly green colour.

i also changed the light in the clock to a white LED but looked weird with no backing paper. so i cut up some printing paper where i printed out a fairlane logo/text and put it in for s**t and giggles and it turned out quite nice. its not too obvious but when your close enough you can read it and doesnt look tacky.

i dont have any photos of them at the moment but if i get home from work early enough tonight ill take some snaps.

also this week im finally picking up my LTD seats and trims. altho i like the NF seats...leather is leather... drivers seat is a little rooted but my dads been a qualified auto trimmer for over 30 years so we know people who can track me down original pieces and repair it.

and the fair rooted seat

the LTD seats are on electric bases.. well atleast the drivers is. the rear seat is dead on mint! and will do for now until i find some NF/N seats in leather cheap :P

to overcome the DC1 style 4" speaker holes im going to remove the insert and install them on a set of EB2 or ED GLi trims as the main section of the door trim is vinyl anyways so will be identical but have a 6" speaker hole.

and thats about all i have for this update..

Talking about keeping busy! Nice work dude. You will love the leather when the drivers seat is brought up to scratch! It was a great upgrade I did on my Ghia, and also now doing on my Xr8 too lol.

Cheers

havnt updated in a while. not alot gone on. working too much...

scored another complete AU motor essentially free, well it cost $100 with gearbox but sold the gearbox for $100. with this i also got a free bottom end (minus 1 piston) so i have plenty of parts now to build something good.

figured out the wiring issue yesterday, had a mate come over and give me a hand with a very expensive piece of equipment that no one should go without... a screwdriver

tested the injectors, there was a pulse but no spark and good fuel pressure, swapped ECU's and got injector pulse spark but no fuel pressure *sigh* so i made up a quick adapter and ran the fuel pump straight off the battery.. a bit of degreaser into the T/B to fire it up and after that she was happy to run herself. so at the moment im just connecting the fuel pump to the battery when i want it to run. in the next week ill make up a relay system to run both fuel pumps.

i also got my turbo fittings for the water feed so now its just 4m of braided hose needed, and 4m of fuel line and i can have the water/fuel plumbing all done

im still searching for some 3" piping to finish off the cooler piping. my mate has also offered me an aftermarket ECU which he is currently running on his EF turbo as a plug and play unit (plugs between the ECU and manifold looms in the engine bay) so will be perfect. just waiting on a price he wants for it.

i took it outside today for a was as its been months and it was fantastic seeing it outside knowing it moved under its own power...
if you look at the paint you can see how it changes from green to blue (lower areas between the shadows) the camera couldn't really capture it

i also made a small video of the car on idle and a small rev to about 1800rpm to show how loud it is with no exhaust lol im sure the neighbors loved me

time for an update. got the diff out, stripped the NC Diff and the EF diff, and in the process of fitting the LSD and 3.23's to the EF housing. need to take it to a diff shop and get some smaller shims as its REALLY tight. so tight it would whine lol

apart from that i sold my exhaust to rollin for his fairlane, cut the carpet in half to make a 2 piece unit using the factory rear section and EF front section. got all 4 doors in and working so its lockable. i also test fitted the leather rear seat with the NF trims.. looks good and i think im going to keep it this way.

i also bought a4" 45 degree silicon joiner for the intake on the turbo and a fuel pump bracket. i also got some more speedflow fittings so now i just need some fuel hose and i can install the surge tank into the boot. then its just finding some more intake piping and water feed hose.

i also have quite a collection of AU motor parts laying about now.
1 complete motor and 2 bottom ends. all of which were free.

sorry boxcar, this one im using for my car.. if i sold it id just have to pay someone to weld up a new one. i didnt know i was getting this one, he just dropped it off with the complete AU motor.. bonus!

well technically i paid 100 for motor and box but then sold the box for 100 before i even got the motor to my place

ok so i have been making things look neater, starting with the turbo water feed. it used to come out as a 16mm hose via a LPG T piece then reduced into a 10mm hose upto the turbo. it stuck out like dogs balls and i hated it tho it was only temporary. i noticed the NC thermostat housing had 3 sensors and the EF has only 1. so this would leave me with 2 spare locations. 1 is the universal temp sensor so i can run an aftermarket gauge, and from the other i bought a fitting which runs into the speedflow style fitting around the front then into the hard line.

the hard line runs under the belt cover and flows around between the power steering pump and the motor. i will be getting a -6 fitting welded on the end and from this i will add in the braided hose which will run to the turbo. the best thing about this is it was free as i had everything sitting here and it keeps the hoses to a minimum.

once i was happy with how it was working i got talking to a mate who said its a shame about the ugly thermostat to header tank hose and we came up the idea of running a 2nd hard line along the same route, but instead of stopping it will drop down to behind the alternator, then soft hose across to the chassis (for ease of motor removal if needed) then back into hard line up the chassis up behind the headlight and around the body. then it will go to soft hose as it enters the header tank. but i need alot more hard line for this so with the left over bits i had laying about i modified the radiator to header tank hose so it drops back under the radiator support panel then around. it neatens up the whole corner of the engine bay.

i also made up a head shield for the manifold but ill most likely ditch it for something nicer. perhaps a stainless cover
