I found a 2000 model AU TE50 in Cape Town South Africa.!!!!! This car only has 29000km on the clock!!!!. I am going to pick it up this afternoon and will post some pictures of it later. I have to trade my 1999 AU XR6 for it and give the owner R100K but its a small price to pay for such a great car. I will be the only person in SOUTH AFRICA with an original T1 TE50!!!!!! If you cannot wait to see click on the link below.

If I was you, I'd be checking the validity of that TE, it looks like a bit of a bitzer, from the pics, its got a low series dash in it, it does have the correct cluster, but the TE's get the high series short wheel base dash with climate control, the leather seats pictured in the car are from a T2 TE50, T1's got alacantra,
the front grill and rear grill appear to have been either changed or removed, T1 got a chrome mash insert in the front and rear, and also a silver T badge on the bonnet, also the ride height is incorrect, it presents too high, but it may bave been raised up? Also, don't be disapointed when you get there to find it is a 302 and not a 346. the stroker motor only went in the T3. Hence what I mean by a bit of a bitzer. If you want some pics of what an original one looks like, have a look at my build thread. Also, make sure there is a numbered build plate on the drivers side in the engine bay, It will also have the vin, build number and model on it. Get the original wheels, the ones on it currently look s**t. you never know it could be legit, but then it is also a case of buyer beware, there are a few things in the pics that I can quickly pic that elude that it may not be exactly what it is advertised as.

Thanx for the advice. I will let you know tomorrow when I go to the seller. I also noticed that the dash is from the low spec version that is in the AU1 XR6. Talk tomorrow.

on the pic of the back bumper it looks like a slightly different shade of red?
also has a B series spoiler edit: and the ad says 302 5.6l.... 302 is 4.9l.

Going by the exchange rate, R100k equals AU$10,800. I don't know what the average wage is, sp could be a lot or a bargain.

Its also got Fairmont headlights with the chrome bezels where TE's had body colour painted ones.

There is more that is wrong with this car than that is right..
I am not aware of any T1's going off shore, not to say it couldn't have, but I VERY highly doubt it. With only 104 T1 being made.

I am pretty sure this car isn't legit, cause didn't the TE and TL have Fairmont high spec dashes with fake carbon fibre instead of wood.

Series 1 TE50 had low spec dash.
Series 2 had fairmont style dash. Probably thinking of a TS50 with high series dash. |

My T1 TE50 has high spec fairmont dash.. as did all the others. T3 TE50 had lower spec dash. {USERNAME} wrote: thats the thing, its a 2000 model so its actually a series 2, did the t1's continue into the series 2 era?? No, that is part of the reason why the build quantity of T1's is so low, they didn't actually start them until essentially AU 1.5's came out, as soon at series II came out so did the T2. The T1 was ½ a series behind so to speak.
