Pulled the cover from the shell today and started adressing isues that need to e sorted before it goes to paint, such as the rust in the engine bay..

the corner panels in the bay come out quite easily once the spot welds have been drilled..

The drivers side panel showed no obvious signs of rust but i removed it to be on the safe side and what do you know.. :x

the area exposed underneath the removed pieces isn't rusted through its just heavy surface rust, when time allows this week i will be cleaning it up prepping and getting some paint on those areas and sourcing two replacement pieces of a donor car. Obviously the vin number of the passenger side will have to be retained so that will be swapped over and welded on the bench before the new piece is welded into the car.

There wasn't a great deal of time after work today but here's today's progress in the engine bay

quick hit of clear rust converter sealer, ready for a quick rub back and primer when the rest of the bay is ready, replacement panel yet to be welded back on top of the cleaned up section shown.
